I have a 2000 max, Dealer told me that the maf was going bad. Price for the part is $99 bucks, labor to install is another $99 bucks - does this sound right, the price for the part. And can I install the maf - looks pretty easy?

I picked mine up 2K2 6spd (for the second time) last night. This time I will wait to decide if the car really drives any better. The serv. mgr told me they replaced the MAF. I looked under the hood while gassing up this morning to see if I could tell that the assembly was new. I was suprised to see the old housing with the same road dirt and splash marks.
I call the serv mgr and told him that I didn't think the part had been replaced. Drove over at lunch to show him. He said that they only have to replace the meter itself, not the housing. He told me that he took the new meter out of the box himself. I asked him to show me the part that came out of my car. He showed me a meter but I have no way of knowing whether it had really been on my car or even if it was on a Maxima at all.
I am planning to take the assembly off to get a good look at the meter they installed. If it looks like the meter he showed me and I don't get anymore check engine lights, I guess it's OK. Like I wrote in another post, I've been dealing with the same serv mgr for years so I am going to give the benefit of the doubt. But if it doesn't look like the one he showed me and/or I get another SES light, I will feel like I've been played.

If you can't decide whether or not the car drives better, why did you get the MAF swapped??? You must have had it swapped for a reason? Stalling, bad idle etc... If its not showing these signs anymore then the sensor must be new??
On mine when the rpms would come down they would fall right through the 500rpm mark, engine would shudder, light dim etc, then go back up to 600rpm or so.... New MAF, now I get a solid 750rpm idle, never lower unless I bog the engine with the clutch...
I a little confused...

The first time I had the ECM reburned (Friday 3/21), I was sure the car drove better. Only problem was the SES light came back on after 2 days and the car exhibited some of its old hesitation on acceleration problems.
Do you mind if I drive it for a couple of days before I'm convcinced?
