if that's what you want...go for it.
I would love the power, AWD, but I couldn't stand to be seen in a "riced out Mirage".
also, I wouldn't want to give up my space.
If you want to spend $30,000 for a better performing, yet smaller car, have you considered a 1998/99 BMW M3?
not as fast, but handles f***ing awesome!

it sucks because it is modled after the real evo 7 and it real dosent look any thing like it. a was the real one a nopi and it is much wider and a little long but cant get over the numbers and its all stock. the internals are good for over 400hp. witha nice boost controller and a blow of valve you would be set. then i think to my self why not keep the pimp max on 19s and just be the first to turbo the 3.5. i found out i can get a t4/t5 for about 250 then i could make all the exhaust flanges and pipe at the shop where i go to school. now that would be worth keeping.

you guys can say it is rice but it is concidered one of the worlds supercars belive it or not it is on the same level as the skyline. it is a super car not a fad it has been around for a lond time. and you can justify the fact that is fast than the maximas by calling ait a "RICE" car the car realy is a awsome piece of enginering. and i cant wait to drive one.

i would say that it depends on the person. I used to live
in japan, and the evo was not all that popular. The skyline
always kicked its ****. i don't think that the evo and the max
are in the same class of car. i do know for a fact that mitsu-
bishi had a problem with reliablity with there turbo's. I would
wait a year. let all of bugs get worked out. that is what all of the
guys who bought the first wwrx here. tranny turns into a metal burrito.

Riced out would be
15 in pep boy rims.
stickers all over the car
a huge *** wing( which it has) but still the car is fast...not slow
and ****ty exhaust
and gay lighting all over the car
That car is not riced out at all. It just has a big wing...I hate big wings but it looks good on that car.
And did i mention that intercooler is fricking awesome

I don't really like it, but to each his own..
BTW, you won't be "trading" anything but a BMW in for one of those.. Good luck finding it for less than $10k over MSRP in the color, trim, options you want... And good luck ordering one..
Personally I'd rather put some cash into the max and supercharge it.. much more fun, plus you keep your room, comfort, style, etc..
Just my $0.02.

I love turbos, but I want the car to be reliable as well as comfterble to drive. I still would have to give that thing a test drive be4 I make any further judgments on it though.

Ever give any thoughts about the WRX STi thats soon to come out? 300hp and 300tq with the AWD means one hell of a holeshot in my book.
#27
so far I see only cons..The riced out Mirage will attract cops. How much is the insurance on that thing anyway? And what is the likelyhood you will be using all that power besides like on the track? Well if you like to go to the track, there's so much more for $30 grand. Also, the full-time 4wd will decrease the gas mileage.

I would only go for the Evo if you don't mind a seriously unforgiving ride. I love my max not just for the power, but because it's comfortable and relatively luxurious as well. The EVO is unforgiving - and requires constant focus to harness the power. So, I suppose you have to decide if you want a daily driver or a hard *** rally car.

I want a "daily driver Rally car" I'm not scared, and it can't be any worse than driving a full on drag Mustang to work, just alot more fun.

Doesn't the EVO run 19psi of boost STOCK? So where's the room to do any more turbo mods? If you put a BC on it, and turn it up, wouldn't you be risking blowing the engine/turbo? I'm not an expert by any means on turbo'ed cars, but 19psi stock seems a lot, and doesn't leave a lot of room for any more boost.
I like the way the car looks. It's not ricey at all IMO. The wing IS big, but it looks good on the car. The car is show AND go, so it's all good. I would NOT pay over 27K for it though, as it is a "hooked up Mirage", and Mitsu's reliability has never been that great.

The Lancer Evo is a tighta$$ ride...this is NOT DEBATABLE. Only thing that holds me back is that it's too small, and at the end of the day, it's still a Lancer. Even if I was in the market for one, I would wait and get the WRX STi when that comes out.

i wouldn't hit it only because i lose a lot of practicality associated w/ the max
cargo capacity, passenger comfort, refinement, etc.
if however, you were to say you wanna get a nice sport car and those listed above don't matter, go for it.
one thing to consider is that mitsu reliability hasn't been that good, especially this 2.0L turbo. it may be "rally inspired" but it's not that much to scream about. ask the DSM folks

Also,
It LOOKS cheap...Looks like a cheap-@ss Shelby hook-up. Yeah they were fast, but so freakin' ugly. A friend of mine had a Dodge Omni GLHS - where the S was a limited edition Shelby - only 500 were made. We used to race corvettes and mustangs and kick their butts...a freakin' Omni!
BTW - MSRP is $28K without additional dealer mark-up. Blech.

I'm interested in the Evo as my next car. It is in a different class than the Maxima. The Evo has very little in common with the normal Lancer.
The CF wing is tall but functional at high speeds. It is not ricey.
The Evo DOES run 19psi stock, but only at 3500rpm. Boost drops to a little over 16psi at higher revs. A boost controller that holds 19psi will give a lot more power up top.
The new WRX STi will be a great competitor. You will pay more money for the 2.5L 300hp, 300ft-lb, DCCD, and front LSD. We don't know yet if the new STi handles as well as the Evo. The Evo can match the STi's power with simple cheap mods.
Good points:
The Evo is a low-budget supercar.
It has performance that rivals cars 2 and 3 times its price.
There is huge potential for greater performance with mods.
The 4G63 is a well-known engine, having been tuned by DSM and Galant VR4 owners for the past dozen years. Mods are plentiful.
FMIC
Brembo brakes
Superior handling
Costs less than the STi
Bad points:
It's almost a race car. You'll sacrifice ride comfort, NVH, and some space for improved performance.
It is not near-luxury like a loaded maxima. You can't even get a lot of the Maxima's amenities as OEM options on the Evo.
Maintenance and insurance costs will be higher.

Would I own one? No, but that's not really a car for the over 30 (25?, 20? 16?) crowd...at least not in my opinion.
