stillen maxima headers???

I had recently looked at Stillen's 02 maxima parts list and they include these headers that are intended for 3.5 l max/altima engines? Has anyone researched this, and are they indeed what they say they are ??????

they've had that on there for a few months now.. but i think they're still working on it. a few of us here have called to see how far along they are, but didn't get any straight answers. it'll probably be a while, if ever, before they come out with it.

just got off the phone with stillen... first off the guy told me some BS about them adding 45 horses. They have no precats... and worst of all he has no date or price..

I thought stillen was supposed to be reliable, why the hell would they do that, had me all excited for a second.

As odd as that sounds, you could get that much HP, at one given spike in the powerband, but not across the whole spectrum.

Hy-tex, (a Nascar company) test fitted a set of headers on my other car that has a 3.0l V6, and it spiked anywhere from 36-49WHP at certain points, but on the whole it generated about 17WHP, so you kind of have to take these HP gains with a grain of salt.

so does that mean at certain rpm the car will pull harder?

Well, to put it simply, you won't really notice it. These spikes all work themselves out across the power band to equal a linear number. You can't really equate it to hitting V-Tec or something like that

Either way, you can expect these to yield pretty good performance gains. Just look at your stock equipment...

also, consider that most of the other exhaust work might be necessary, and I think the bottleneck would move gradually towards the muffler, which most of us keep stock i think?

I'm just talking ****e here... what do you guys think?? So far all i have is a y and b, stock muffler... (Also i think the guy said over the phone that this header set replaces the Y)

Yeah, keep in mind a Y-pipe, (or down pipe) is a basic "header", in so much as that it lets the exhaust leave the engine less restrictively, due to the elimination of the crush bent/catalytic convertered OEM runners-but it still has to deal with the stock exhaust manifolds on the block.

When you install true headers, they replace everything from the exhaust side of the block to the catalytic convertor under the car. So, basically-they bolt to the engine, (eliminating the OEM exhaust manifolds) and run to a collector then bolt to the catalytic convertor. Header design can change, (long runners, short runners, collect inlets, sizes, grouping, etc.) but they all serve the same purpose.

Nothing should be modified it should be a direct bolt-on. IMO it should yeild a good 15-20whp which is noticable on butt dyno. I think stillen had these headers priced at like $550 or something.

That's the usual stillen joke. Everything is 30 days away. When you call back at the end of 30 days to purchase your product they'll tell you it'll be out in "30 days"

The Stillen headers mirage has been going around for quite some time. The first time I heard about them I was determined to wait, but there comes a point when you waited long enough and nothing has appeared. I am now considering a Ypipe and Bpipe with a custom OEM muffler.

If the headers actually come out, I won't be disappointed because I will have alreay had my Ypipe on for years.

Stillen's formula to determine when the headers come out.

N = number of days guessed by whichever sales rep you reach.

Thats the most jacked up formula ive ever seen in my life. So I guess the headers will be out in 165 days then.

i'm wondering since i just did the warpspeed y pipe, what the perforamnce gain of the full header setup would be compared to just the Y. For an extra 5-10 horses or so if that's the case, i don't know if i can justify the 600 bux... Do you guys think it would be an additional 20 horses, above that which we recieve from a Y?
