POSSIBLE AE Kit for 2002 & 2003?

I am negotiating for a company to possibly make a Anniversary Edition (AE) kit to properly fit the 2002 and 2003 Maxima's. This is in a very preliminary stage, however the gentleman that I am talking to has asked me to get a feel for how many people may be interested. With that said, I know like to know how many people would be interested in such a kit if it was available?

Hey,

I have a 2001, se and would like the AE kit, but it is pricey for plastic. The stillen is ok, but too round. See if your guy can make the original kit from fiberglass please to fit the 2001's. I am sure you can then get a price probably for 1/2 of the original.

Thanks!

I will be more than happy to find out, however if he does accept we will need a donor car. But lets not get our hopes up yet, lets see how many people would be interested in the 2002 and 2003 first, since I have a 2003
I have been wanting this kit forever, but I will definately find about about our little brothers (2000 and 2001) Just kidding.

Preliminary Pricing!

I just got off the phone with the company, and I got some preliminary pricing. Keep in mind that this is very preliminary.

They are going to concentrate on only making the FRONT LIP which will be fiberglass and it should cost around $249.

So I could buy the rear and side Stillen pieces, and their front lip ! That would be the perfect combo !

Exactly!

I'm sure most of the guys here are interested in that. If anything don't even worry about them making sides and a rear, we can already get those. JUST GET US A LIP! I'd venture to say 60-70% of the 2k2 or 2k3 guys would be all over a nice conservative AE style lip.

I would be...

..but $250 for the lip + paint + installation sounds real expensive to me. How much would the total nut be if you got the stillen sides and rear (with painting and install?).

PRELIMINARY PRICING!

I recently got off the phone with the company that is considering us. They said to let everyone know that they are concentrating on the FRONT LIP only at this time. The price will be around $249.

I think Stillen charges about 800 for all the pieces. It would be better at a price of about 200 bucks , but lets see . IM in for sure !

As i responded to the other thread in the group buy section, i want the AE lp to be made in urethane. It is much more durable than fiberglass. If its made of urethane then definetly i'm in.

Keep in mind that this company is small, they are willing to hear us out. I need atleast 15 people that are definately interested. I will be talking to him hopefully on Saturday (Closed on Sunday).
As for urethane, it would be great if they could do this, however it is not cost effective for them to do a urethane kit. They would need molds and so forth.
I would be able to live with a fiberlass kit.

Keep the comments coming.

Also please remember that this is not a sure thing, I don't want to get people hopes up, I proposed this idea to them and so far they are interested. Obviously they have to do internal researching and engineering, with that said, they have to ensure it is cost effective for them to make it.

I would buy the AE lip as well... I like the AE kit most of all and I was contimplating buying a 2000-01 bumper and fogs so that I could have the whole AE kit look. $249 is a lot cheaper than about $500+ it would cost for a bumper+fogs+AE kit!

I'm down if the R&D 2002-2003 AE front lip is going to be fabricated out of urethane rather than fiberglass.

The gentleman that I am speaking with said that it will definately be fiberglass. I also would have liked it to be urethane. Like I said it don't mind because this is just a lip, it is small so I could live with it.

With that said,Put me down for one.(although it's going to be fabricated out of fiberglass rather than urethane) My 2003 is in need of a front lip,I guess i could live with the fiberglass.
BTW,What are the pro's and con's of fiberglass???

I'm in. However has he contemplated using ABS PLASTIC?

It's cheap, and much more durable than fiberglass.

Little brother here, 2001 SE. I talked to my shop guy about the aspects of painting urathane. It's a lot of trouble. First you have to bake it just to get all the release agent out. Then prime and paint with flex agents added. The flex agents allow the paint to not crack off because as you install the urathane, you will flex it. Then after you install it, clear coat it. For them to do the stillen side skirts, and rear bumper would run me $1200 painted and installed. If i had him jsut paint it, $800.00 Then the price of the kit, $600 or so, and you are in for 2G's. Id rather go SC'd.
Si a fiberglass kit would be great, because I can paint and install that, and you can reapair fiberglass if you crunch it somehow, urathane if you get rock nicks and or cuts, no repairable. So don't forget us 2001'S!

MORE INSIGHT

OK all, I spoke to my contact today, here is where we hit a bumpy road. Now this lip will have to have 60% of it's design changed compared to STILLEN's. This is because Stillen's is TM (trade marked). With that being said, the company would like to have all that is seriouly interested make a $50 NON-refundable deposite to start working on this kit. This is due to the fact that:
1. It will take approximately 7 weeks to make the kit.
2. Within the 7 weeks to make it, if Stillen or someone else does come out with a front lip, they do not want people cancelling their order with this company.
3. The company is not certain that this kit will sell beyond the few of us who wants it.

Now would you all still be interested with such new news?

So after paying the $50 we'll need to pasy just $200 more for the lip. Can there be some tiype of contract or some paperwork stating that the lip will be available by a certain time or we get our money back. If so, I'm in.

Dohcser, I would like to ask a couple questions before continuing with this deal.
-Can you post a pic of what the fiberglass front lip will look like since you said that the design will have approx. 60% of the original STILLEN design dur to trademarks/copyrights.
-If a prototype front lip is made will the fitment be nice and flush with the front bumper, foglights etc???
-Who and Where is this company based at???
-Can we get sometype of contract if I or fellow Org. memebers were to make a $50 deposit???
-Why won't the $50 deposit be refundable??? I just don't want some BS about they ran into some problems trying to fabricate one etc. and I'm now out of $50 thats was non-refundable.
-What will the final price be shipped???
Sorry for all the questions. But I and maybe other Org. memebers would like to know before proceding on with this. Thanks in advance.

If I buy a 2k2 this summer I would also buy an AE kit to fit it, if such a thing could be made.
