Tonight I am going to run the 1/4 mile. I have a 2001 GLE with a Frankencar intake. The track is located 2100ft above sea level. Any ideas on what I am going to run?

By the way I am running a friends 2001 IS300 with a SRT intake and ECU. He will problably beat me but I have some tricks up my sleeve.

I will post results tonight!

If ur an auto, then u will run that give or take 2-3 tenths. I was runnin mid 15's yesterday with a best of 15.57 at 89.9 and the elevation was 1900 ft, 65 temp and a 10mph tail wind plus I have my whole exhaust done. I would be surprized if u get in the 15's no offense.

A new TL ran a 60 ft. 2.5 1/4 16.3 @ 85.5 at the same track two weeks back. That is a goal to beat for me.

For starters only have 1/4 tank of gas or less. Right before you make the runs lower your tire pressure about 10-15 psi. You could even take out your spare and jack and any stuff in your car.

Torqu brake and manually shift.

Its gettin warm outside so if you follow these you should hopefully get a best of about 15.5@89mph

Yeah im sure that gave me atleast .2-.3 gain, and the tail wind helped. If u got ur @ss donw there, im sure u would have broken into the 14's, especially with that tail wind of 10+ mph. Yeah mid 15's arnt all that great, my car isnt exactly slow but when I get my 2K3 6spd......

5th gens around here in so cal running only with a intake and 80 degree plus temps and same elevation run 15.8-16.1's... so you should be around there.

I dunno about all this 16.5 stuff.

I dont know what happen there, 15.3 for a stock 3.5 auto is unusually slow no offense. Its still faster then mine but by only .3sec, The slowest 3.5 auto ive seen was runnin 15 flat. maybe u just had some messed up conditions at the track

The results are:
2.481 60ft
16.212 1/4
84.36 MPH
LVMS @ 2100ft

This was done with a 2k torque brake, manually shifting, and best results were with the OD OFF (TQ lock up).

By the way when I left I beat the IS300, his best when I left was a 16.3. I beat the Acura TL as well to his 16.3. Beat a WRX which got a 16.6.

I think people are saying 16.XX because he's at a higher elevation that so cal...

he said he was at 2100 feet..that's almost half a mile higher than your so-call buds...

elevation sucks.

not that it isn't true, but that statement is misleading.

of the 3 people that dropped enough cash to turn their car into a 13 second machine, 2 of them happend to use a Frankencar intake.

It doesn't mean that they couldn't have got the same/better results with all other mods being the same, and a different intake.

using stats from 3 cars, with different mods/parts isn't reliable, anyone know how to calculate margin of error?

Not saying the Frankencar Intake is bad, I have NO experience with anything other than a cone K&N filter that I had on my sr20de...

but I do recognize misleading advertising.

Yep the elevation sucks.

The WRX pulled a 2.6 60ft and problably bogged bad causing his 16.6.

I think running the 1/4 with the overdrive button off was good for two tenths.

my 15.85@86.8 with a 2.38 feels pretty good all of a sudden

just checking my runs, i pulled a 2.63 60ft once and ended up with a 16.083 @88.25 ... with the stealin intake & nothing else still faster then your best run sucks to live up high

I'm going back there to run low/mid 15s this year w/ my y-pipe ... and a better launch

start with the O/D Off ...but when in 3rd around 4200-4500rpm the car will begin to lag, turn O/D back on at that point and the rpms jump 300-500 and you'll feel a pull.

my best times (i have an automagic too) was brake torqueing to 1500rpm. one run i just floored it (no brake torqueing) at the last yellow and i got one of my lowest times. takes some practice.

i also found out, after the track closed last year, that my tach is off a few 100 rpms and that i can do the 2->3 shift at redline on the tach...should be good for a tenth or 2 at the track this year

Actually a majority of the tracks around so. cal are at an elevation of 1500 or above. There is little land area around the coast at zero elevation for a track. Even if there was land area the locals would defy having a track in their backyard.

If u got 245/35 tires depending on what brand tires u got ur will still get good wheel spin up to atleast 4K. U can burn up the stock tires til the redline on 1st in an auto. U should be able to run 14's.
