Maxima Nose mask

I just put the official factory nissan nose mask on my 2000 maxima se. Ive heard stories that the nose mask will cloud my paint or mess up the paint job of the covered part of the car. My max is sterling mist so i was hoping that if the paint does fade, it wont be that noticable. Does anyone else have a nose mask on their max and if so does it mess up your paint?

I also have a silver 2K SE. I thought about getting a nose mask, but I thought that it would be too much work to take it off everytime it got wet. Do you have any pics?

it will not mess up your paint if you follow the instructions... take it off when it's wet, don't leave it on for weeks on end, make sure underneath is clean/clear of debris.

At least you guys have the option. I would love to get one for my car, but can't find anyone with a mask that will fit the AE front end.

Just get the rock deflector. It'll make it look meaner, atleast that's what I think.

Yeah, but I would like to protect the bumper area as well. Black gets screwed up sooooo fast from bugs and debris.

Oh well...

It really isn't too much work... pop the hood, 3 connectors, and it's off... the reverse to put it back on, 2 minutes tops.

What is so different about the front end of an AE?

Too late. Already have chips on bumper and hood. Would require a full repaint then clear-bra application. I would really like to have something just cover the areas until I get around to that kind of procedure.

Nose Mask Pros and cons

I have a leather bumper and nose mask bought from Courtesy Nissan from day one.($98) The pro side of it is that it does protect the front very well. Also at high speeds it doesn't rattle or move about like other after market bra's I've used in the past which will cause scratches and marks. Well worth the cash. The con side is that if you put any type of grill work on the valence part of your bumper you will not be able to put on the lower half of this bra due to the fact that you have to wrap the clips around certain parts of the bumper which this grill covers up. Also the bottom half is a bit tricky when first installing. After you figure it out it becomes easier. Still a hassle but again well worth it if you want to avoid those nasty chips. Now for the nose mask.(this part covers the front of the hood) The pro side of it is all you have to do is remove the 3 clips and off it goes. Very easy. The con side is if you are lazy and don't remove it after long intervals dirt gets between the bra and the cars finish which will cause scratches that everyone talks about. Also if it rains and you leave it on and when washing your car you can easily scratch the finish. You be the judge. Hope this helps a little.

I have had he bra for my car from day one. i use it mostly in the
summer time when it doesnt rain as much and i can keep it clean.
i occasionally do wash my car with it still on but the trick is to not get a lot of water under there and to clean and dry in those areas where it does. the most important thing you can do when using one of these is to keep your car waxed. the wx will help to prevent clouding. i had to learn this the hard way many years ago. you do still want to take it off once in a while and clean it as well and to let your paint breathe so to speak. one last thing, when you first get it let it sit in the sun for a while to loosen it up it is very tight and hard to put on the first time especialy around the fenders. i think it is well worth the money spent.
