Cleaning the Engine?

Hey guys I need to know what parts of the engine I should cover before cleaning it out. Are there any critical components that I should keep absolutely dry? Thanks

Anything electrical would probably be a good start

All you'd really need to cover is your intake if you have an aftermarket one. The rest of your engine should be fine. CD2 engine detailer works great for cleaning your engine as well.

Will CD2 do damage to the hose or belts if any gets on it? Is gunk safe for the belts/hoses?

I spray CD2 over my entire engine and it makes everything look good. Simple green is good for areas that have a lot of grease or oil.

Do you use a high pressure washer to wash everything away?

I do mine at home using Simple Green as it is biodegradable and doesn't hurt grass and plants. I use a high pressure spray with minimal water volume to rinse everything off. I have a brass hose nozzle that I adjust manually to get the desired spray pattern. The Simple Green is effective, cheap (big spray bottle is under $4 at Walmart) and has a pleasant odor! Hope this helps!

years ago, the original GUNK would put pinholes in rubber hoses. Use it ONLY on the bottom of the metal block! Since some blocks are alumium, be extra careful.

thanks
