Manual

Hi,
I have always drived an auto,
I bought a 2003 SE auto,
I always wanted to try to drive a manual but noone I know drives a manual.
Does anyone know where I might be able to rent one for a few days?
Or maybe some kind of school to learn how to drive it?
Sorry if this has been asked before

I know in Boston there's a place called "Rent-a-Wreck", and they have a few manuals in stock. Actually, it's a chain of rental places here, so it's not some "Bob's Rental".

I wanted to do the same before I bought my Max, and they had a choice of a Jetta TDI (diesel turbo, like 90hp! ), or a 1997 Neon. The price for me (21 yrs old) was like 50/day, and that included insurance.

I ended up not going through with it cause I just figured I'd let my father show me on the Max, and I also got a chance to whip my friend's Mitsu Lancer a few times beforehand.

However, the mainstream rental agencies like Budget, Hertz, Avis, etc. do NOT have manual cars. You'd have to go to Europe for that!

By the way, why are you in a rush to learn now? You already bought the Max, so just wait until one of your friends, or whoever, gets a manual, and try it out then.

POS rental agencies!!! I've asked about this before, no company in NY that I know of rents manuals....I'm guessing its because they know there are people out there like you, like me who want to learn how to drive them at their expense.

Yeh, I was ****ed when I was trying to find one. I guess it's cause most Americans do not drive manuals, so there would be no demand for those cars. I'm sure that's right, since us enthusiasts do not represent the bulk of their customer base.

Sucks for us, good for them!

Re: Manual

If the rental agencies don't have manuals..

Find the nearest corner and hold a sign that
says:

"Want to learn how to drive a stick,
will pay"

Just kidding, but hey I don't think it's that bad of an idea.

If your sole purpose is just to learn how to drive a manual tranny car. I say just go out and rent any car thats a stick-shift for the weekend and learn.
