Do you see the thing hanging from my rear bumper? What the hell is that called and what is suppose to be used for? I just have it there because it looks cool.

 

Looks like you have one of the original mythical static bleed straps from the 1950's. Later, in the 60's - 70's they were sold to make you invisible to radar. They were usually next to the magnetic fuel improvers and turbolator exhaust extractors in the stores.

It's a static removing thingy... grounds the car so you don't get shocked when you touch the door after getting out.

So does it actually do anything? The static shocks I get from my car are pretty vicious.....
