i htink im experiencing the cattman flex problem

hey, i purchased my cattman y-pipe right before the "flex problem". i have had no problems, until recently I started noticing the bees in the can sound from the flex section is really loud and i feel a lil power loss too. Anyway to find out if thats the flex section problem without taking off the y- pipe???????????

I think you have to unflex it to see, so I would guess that requires removal of the y-pipe..

take it to a muffler shop (midas or some ****) - ask them for a free inspection.. (they do this ya know)

then decide what to do about fixing it and maybe ask them how much to swap that for another pipe... (no more than $50 I'd think to jack it up, swap pipes, and drop it down - simple 30 minute job)

Good luck!

50 bucks? You wish, man! I had a 94 Altima with a hole in the flex section, I took it to Midas and they wanted $160 to swap it out with a new one. Flex section itself was 60 bucks. Sux!

You do not need to remove the ypipe to inspect the flex, just drop the cat and take a look with a flashlight (and maybe a mirror). I read a bunch about this before buying my budget y. I assume youve seen pics and know what you are looking for.

Maybe someone can search and link you to a pic, but its pretty obvious if you have a flex problem. It will look all collapsed inside. I remember seeing one where the passage was shrunk down to about the size of a grape.

I was saying $50 for labor but you should go buy your Y-pipe elsewhere, they (Midas, etc...) will just rip you off!

Kevin had a stillen Y-pipe....there is another case of stillen flex section went south.

I think both Stillen and Cattman switched from mesh-wired flex to another type of flex which is supoorted by a set of rings.

Don't go to midas, find a muffler shop. I'm sure you can find a muffler shop that will do it for cheap. Did you confirm you have the flex problem?
