Cleaning K&N

I just pulled my K&N drop in and that thing is caked with soot.
Has anyone cleaned theirs lately and what's the stuff that you've used?

That's what I use for my drop-in. Just don't use compressed air, high pressure water or anything that can damage the cotton fibers. and let it dry in the shade.

I would also let it sit on a clean towel for a couple hours so that the towel can 'leach' excess oil of it before putting it back in the car.

I agree....but be very careful not to over oil it. I thought that I hadn't put enough and when I checked it over the next couple of weeks, I had alot of red oil inside of the stock intake box.

I would recommend you get the K&N recharge kit with the aerosol oil can instead of the squeeze bottle....too much comes out with the squeeze bottle.

If you follow the instructions its a long process.

step # 6 after the cleaning solution and possible rinse(not power hose) it says let dry normally.

You'll then see alot of white areas on the material. Apply the pink oil until there are no more white spots. Let dry and sop excess oil off.
