Cell Phones
I was wondering where others place cell phones in their Maximas for those who have them. I keep mine in the cup holder area, plugged in to the rear power outlet. But it prevents me from closing the cup holder lid. Does anyone have a better idea?

well, i have a starTAC and when i don't have to charge the cell, i just put it in the door handle on the driver's side.
there's just enough space for the starTAC to fit..
and uh...if not anything else...enough space for a pack of marlboro and a zippo..
The center cup holder does it for me too.
When I need the room I pop it into the rear cupholder. I have a earpiece / microphone with an answer/hangup button on it, so I don't have to hit send/receive on the phone.
It certainly is nice to be able to charge 2 phones at the same time.

no one else does this?
I have the Nokia 8260 (same size as the Nokia 8800 series). It's small enough and narrow enough to fit into what I guess is the change holder (since there's no ashtray, it has felt in it). It's small enough to fit totally in there, naturally without being able to close it.
BTW, with the talk about the headsets. I just got a really cool earpiece...it's by Body Glove. I found that the "earbuds" always fall out when you turn your head to look while driving. This one is comfortable, in your ear, with a small mic you can't feel or barely see, and doesn't movfe no matter what you do. Go to goneo.com...they have em for lots of models.

yup the felt "ash tray" is what i use.. its real convenient.. the power outlet is right there too. even my slightly large nokie 5190 fits in there without getting in the way of my 5-speed.
thanks for the hands-free tip - i have the stock pacbell wireless one and i used it once and hated it.

I've seen those advertized and they seem like a good idea. My only question is, do they shake or rattle as you're driving? I've spent too much energy getting rid of rattles and squeaks to introduce a new one.

No it does not rattle ( well not yet). But then again I have a GLE, I enjoy a very smooth ride. Plus it has a four prong contact unit that grips inside the lighter unit. A specker on the head unit and a port for an external mic.

Had an tiny Ericsson CF768, kept it in the cup holder..
Now have a HUGE Ericsson R280LX, still keep it in the cup holder...
Besides, I try my best not to talk on the phone while driving.... I don't know about any of you, but I am CERTAIN that I am not the same clear-headed/in-control driver while talking on the phone.. As soon as you hit the talk button, it's like a gentle smog settles over your brain... I worry that other people don't notice it..

I have a silver Timeport and I clip it to the part of the visor that pulls out as an extension (extending it only slightly). The holster it has allows you to pull the phone out leaving the holster still clipped. But on real sunny dayz when the sunglasses dont cut it and I need the visor, I put it in the little felt compartment.
samsung uproar... in the ashtray/cup holder.
oh, and if you're looking for a good hands free, check out jabra. It's one piece mic & ear piece. Works really well (just have to keep the radio down), and it's only one piece, so no microphone clip... nor big arm with a mic hooked on it that makes you look like a Time-Life operator.
