Se Vs Gxe

What are the differences between a 2000 SE and GXE. I have a black GXE 5-speed that I only paid 19k for brand new. Since then I have installed factory fog lights, spoiler, alpine cd player, and I just picked up a set of factory 17 inch rims. I know that the gauges are white face on the SE however, beyond that is there much of a difference.

Also I know that my GXE has a govenor at about 135 mph. I live in Italy and drive her regularly at 120+ for long trips up to Germany. Never have had a problem but gas milage sucks.

gxe are always lighter than other models but the only option i dont think you could get on a gxe was the suspension that came on an se. its firmer struts but the same springs. you have the wheels so thats not a difference anymore. are sunroofs offered on gxes?

No there was no option for the sunroof. Mine is about as stripped as a Maxima comes. No power seats, sunroof, or leather. Just about everything else is standard.

I notice that SE interior does look nicer. (the buttons, windshield wiper controllers and other tiny details). Isn't the SE stick speed limit set at 140 something??

I have a 2K GXE stick also and I ended up getting spoiler, fog lights, MP3 player (of course not all at the same time) and hopefully the rims later on.

Sometime I wonder why I didn't get the SE model in the beginning

As far as the interior I did not notice a difference. Except of course I have a bunch of blank spots where buttons should be.

The main defferences in 2000 were in the suspension - the SE had stiffer springs, shocks and bushings, larger wheels, maybe stiffer front swaybar. The instruments were a different color, the upholstery was a little different, SE had rear spoiler and fog lights.

SE: Sports Edition
GXE: Genuine Not So Good Edition.

That's the way I think of it. I got the SE and I love the suspension.

Well since your "Sports Edition" is handicapped by an automatic tranny all I would have to say to you is good bye.

Check www.car-stats.com for the 96 GXE and the SE, you will see that lighter is better if you have a speed concern

at 120mph, you'd expect gas mileage to be good?
