Civic SI vs. Maxima SE?

A friend at work wanted to race me with his 2000 Civic Si 5 speed...he vowed that he would smoke my maxima ...should I go for it?
He has intake, catback, new headers, lowered, front and rear strut tower bar, rear sway bar. My maxima se is a stock '03 auto with only an intake. He siad my max is a boat....anyways, if we go, it will be on a straight road.

You're an '03 so you should no problem spanking him off the line or on a roll if he's not juiced or boosted.. Civic's = torqueless wonders

Bro, unless he has a supercharger or turbo, you're going to rip him 10 new *******s! Just make sure you get a good launch (minimal to no wheel spin) and then stomp the gas once you're rolling.

I've raced civics at the track with more than that and I still won. You should spank him. I remember my first time at the track. A coworker that had a fully modded VW GTI VR6 and kept teasing me about my 4 door boat. I beat him very badly and all I had was an intake.

I have beat one dead stock with my 2001 maxima, but it took a couple times.

First time he had me by a bumper.
Second time we were dead even.
Third time i had him by a half.

You should walk him really easy. I had a 92 Si with a 1.8 DOHC Integra motor and the MAX is definetly alot faster only in drag racing though. My civic would walk all over the max in a twisty road.

Was this guy with the Civic a former Iraqi Information Minister?

Just curious....

you shouldn't have a problem smokin that thing. I have smoked a guy from my work. His car is an 03-SI with 6sp. Still beat him off the line and straigth-away by 5 cars length. (Mine is 2k-auto max) with a few mods!

Once you beat him on the first run, tell him you'll race him in reverse as well. Just a thought.

Don't forget to put a child seat in the back. I know it adds extra weight, but it really seems to upset the person whom you just beat

A couple of weeks ago I saw a guy who had rented a 02 max auto (because his Saturn was in the shop, talk about an upgrade) race a civic SI with a Jackson Racing SC, he beat his @ZZZ.

You will have no problem, put some money on it and tell your friend if he is so confident in his rice cake that he will do the same.

Make sure its a least a 1/4 mile b/c he could beat you 0-30 with a good launch but then its all over.

Just make sure it's not a guy named cheezefrog, even if he accidently pulls the e-brake while racing (watch the rear rotors) he is going to walk you very bad.

True dat!! If they're not boosting, they're not much of a challenge for any 2K2+ Maxima. But IF they are boosting, LOOKOUT!!
