Need help with brakes(long)
Hey guys,
Heres the deal. Im home from school this weekend for the holiday and i take maxi out for a spin for the first time in a month(freshman cant have cars at my college so maxi sits home in the driveway
). Anyways, you all know how some rust builds up on the surface of the rotors when it sits for a while and the brakes are a little rough for a while but usually wears off after a using the brakes a few times. Well I drove the car for a good 2 hours and the brakes are still very very rough. I get really bad pedal vibrations like when my rotors were warped when braking and when rolling and not touching the brakes i can hear like a swish swish swish noise which must be the rubbing of the rotors on the pads. After driving i got out and looked at my rotors and they are wearing very unevenly. Like the pad is only hitting partially and the face of the rotor still has alot of rust on it. Ill get some pictures up of it tomorrow. The setup im running now is Stillen cross drilleds, SS lines, and stillen pads. Is this ever gonna go away or is something messed up? The brakes are only like 8k miles old and im gonna be mad if i need to replace something. Think turning the rotors would help? THis is really annoying because last time i was home they were fine and up to today they have been really smooth. THanks.

Dude, sorry to say, lettin 'em rust up is bad news. They'll need to be cut. If the car sat in the same spot the whole time, they don't rust as much under the pads, so you end up with a wavy surface.
My max sat on the lot brand new for a long time before I bought it and those rusted. The service manager let me know from the get go that they'd be a problem. I didn't have 200 miles on the car and the pedal pulsed and the steering shuddered. Had to get 'em cut.
