Trading in the max????????????

I'm seriously thinkling of trading in the max for a 2k1 Lightning. I need a truck and this is the only truck I can imagine owning. How much do you think I can get for my max? Should I return it to stock and part out rims and stereo. Check my homepage for pics of what I have (DVD player, ect...).

I don't need any "keep the max" statements as I am really needing a truck.

Thanks for any and all help.

Thanks for any and all help.
I tried to trade my Max in at MY OWN DEALERSHIP and was offered a whopping 14k for it. After letting them know I am in negotiations with another dealership they brought in a "special wholesaler" and upped the offer to an amazing 15.2k for the car. I told them that 16.8k for my car will have this deal done but they just laughed. The "Black Book" value is right in line with the low 15's, thats for "average" or "rough" but thats all they will rate your car no matter how well maintained or immaculate you kept it. I'm going to the other dealership on Wednesday to see what kind of an offer they will give me but I'm prepared already to be driving out of there in my Maxima.
Hope you have better luck!

PS Do you know the Nissan Titan is coming out for '04? Fullsize truck with 300+hp engine as standard equipment?

wow, resale value gets worse everyday. you might not like the lighting though. its really fast, but i heard the engine has problems with the blowers extra power, not to mention no more than 2 people can fit in it.

the new dodge ram truck is coming out, with a viper v-10 in it. 500hp and 525tq. but price has not been released. i am not a truck man but if i was in your situation, i would just look at a silverado,f-150, or tundra(expensive but nice) and then get a fun car that is cheap. like a 95' 5speed max. plus if you need a truck i assume it is to haul stuff and lightings werent really designed for that, you will to worried about messing anything up.

but its your choice, just throwing in a few suggestions

i checked kbb.com and it said my car should be worth like 21k atleast... That isn't considering options. The dealers would love to rape you I guess. I'm sure since your cars a 6 speed u can sell the car for what it's worth to someone wanting it.

How much are you planning on spending on a truck and how fast do you need one?

If you really want that truck and are willing to fork over that much cash and your car, I would say you should have no problem. According to Edmunds, dealer retail on those is around $23K.

that's why I want it--I need a truck so I can haul my boat to Austin for wakeboarding and stuff--I wouldn't use it as a work or off roading truck, I'd keep it clean
thanks for the help

How big it the boat? I think the tow limit on those trucks is only 5,000 lbs. That would be boat and trailer.

I know very little about boats and trailers. Thing is, his is a non-sc'd truck with a 5.8L V8, for 2003 that engine size in a non-sc'd truck is good for 3800 lbs. more towing capacity.

Not trying to turn you off the idea, just making sure you don't burn up the truck with what you are buying it for...also, have you priced insurance on that thing??

I have to admit, that would be a pretty sweet sight going down the road.

Wasn't the Lighting the truck that only has a 500 pound payload capacity?
