I went down to the track tonight to represent maximas.. Good thing i wasnt the only max there because i only ran a 16.1 and 16.3.......
Im sorry guys.........

The plus side is i beat the cars i raced and there was a 5spd 5th gen gxe there who ran 15.3 with just a weapon r intake. I also met a guy there who is gonna make 5th gen parts like y pipe and intake! HE drives a 99 Sc max.... Ill let you know how they come out, he wants me to call him. Maybe ill get free or discount parts!!!

Maybe that will get my slow *** in the 15's too...

Here is how my first run broke down.
60' 2.498
330 6.934
1/8 10.498
mph 69.36
1000 13.543
1/4 16.154
mph 86.40

and just add .2 to everything on my second run. My 60' is what killed me on my second run. So should i get some mods now??? Don?!?!?! you gonna make any more VB's????
What should i do guys??

p.s. I did everything right... Manualy shift, go around water box, etc....

Practice and your times will go down (hopefully). Sounds like you need a y pipe, CAI, VB recal, and better tires. Time for mods?

Yes, yes it is....
My second run sucked because i launched at a higher rpm so lost some traction at first. I am definitly gonna get some mods now. The guy there sounded like he needs a 5th gen for r&d so hopefully i can do it for him and get some free parts. that will take car of the cai and y pipe, and maybe he will make a b pipe.... Maybe an underdrive pully will help too. Hopefully don starts making the vb's again. U think the big 17's slowed me down??? I ran on half tank, tires at proper 32 psi and spare and stuff in the trunk. Maybe i should prepare next time..

Yeah, the 17's definitely slowed you down a bit. 1/4 tank and lower psi's without the spare and stuff in your trunk will also help. Have the guy prototype a turbo on your car.

The only thing you need to work on is your 60 foot time. After that in an auto you are just along for the ride

So how much would it cost to get one of those in my car? I might do it this weekend.

Hmmmm.....you only trapped out at 86mph???? Are you racing at a high altitude or something? I think 86mph is the slowest I've ever heard a 5th gen go. When you blow your tires off at the line, your trap speeds actually will be a little higher.

You 60 foots are killing you. Look at mine!!!! It is so frustrating. Remember that for every .1 you can shed off the 60 foots equates to about .2-.25 quicker 1/4 mile.

Welcome to the world of FWD and a heavy car.

Ive always used that rule of thumb as well. But, it doesnt seem to apply to Mad Max for some reason, most likely due to too many other variables taking effect. For instance, at the last time out at the track, for a given 60 ft of around 2.15, my ETs varied from high 14.3's to mid 14.5's. I could never figure it out. But, Ive never really cared either Sometimes the car just runs better for no apparent reason. Maybe its the way the stars are aligned or the strength of the tides in the Gulf

Do you have the an upgraded TCM?

Anyway... I use to run 15.5 all day. Months later I took off the cone intake and later had the new TCM installed. A few months later I ran I got 16.1's and 16.2's. I don't know if it was the new TCM or the lack of the high flow cone intake. A few months later I raced, I removed the air filter to drop me down to 15.9's. Kind of disappointing. Those are Ford Taurus and Toyota Camry times.

Both of you guys may want to get your Trannys looked at. I'm assuming you saw the thread with the updated TSB. My whole tranny is being replaced. If your times are getting worse, maybe you're getting more and more slippage from the POS auto tranny.
