Has anyone done this???

I was thinking, people seem to like the frankencar intake over a CAI. From what I’ve read, a CAI is better off the line (immediate cold air, duh), but a short ram is better on the high end. Obviously, the colder the air going into the intake is, the better. This is why frankencar is designing a heat shield for their intakes.

So, I was reading the how-2 on the ghetto air box mod (GAB) and it occurred to me that with a short ram intake like frankencar, you could use the same style cold air ram duct to bring cold air into the engine bay by the filter. The silencer would bring in a whole lot more cold air right by the intake filter than it would normally. The question is how much colder does the air have to be to make a difference. What do you think about this idea? Has it been done? Good idea? Bad? Any input? Just a thought…
