sunglass holder

Has anyone replaced the 2000 sunglass holder with a 2002 sunglass holder? Just wondering if it is an exact fit. I just had some unfortunate luck with the hinge snapping off. So gotta replace it.

I wish the search function was up and running. I am really thinking about a contribution so I can access it again.

Short end of the story is I recall that it is a pretty direct swap out. You might want to get in touch with DaveB (phone is in the FAQ's) to price out the option and compatibility. If you find anything out, let me know, I might do this as well.

the 2k2 one is like $10.. you do have to trim just a tiny bit off the headliner, like a 1/4 inch in the front only. When you've trimmed it, you can still use the 2k or 2k2 and not see what you cut, so there are no worries. The stuff cuts like butter, just be careful not slip with the utility knife. I dont remember there being any wire to watch out for, but I would be mindful of that. Just took a minute or two. There is a slight curve to the headliner that you can see when you use the 2k2 holder, but you'd have to *really* look to see or be bothered by it. I'm really picky and I dont notice it.

I did the same thing. Cheap, and I like the push release better than what was originally there. Like Tim said, there is a slight curve but its not really noticable. My only complaint is that my glasses move around in there more now.... but there is room for both my glasses now

the older 5th Gen sunglass holders had a tab-like latch that you used to open them. The newer 5th Gen sunglass holders have a push-button effect (the entire holder) and a 'smoother' release.

No big deal, really.

THanks for the response guys. I checked on the price for the 2000 replacement and it cost $35 whereas the 2002 replacement cost $10 only. But I'm just curious for $10 is it just the door panel that I'm getting or the whole unit. Just screw it back on and that's it?
But I made the order for it from Bob at Nissan parts. Cool guy.
