Hey guys - i have a 2k GLE with about 37K on the odo, and i had the steady "service engine soon" light come on this afternoon. I read the manual, and it stated its probably emissions related, assuming the gas tank cap has been closed properly, etc., which it has. Just wondering if any of you guys have had a similar problem, and what was the cause. Of course, just my luck, I just finished up on the warranty period, so I'm hoping it's nothing serious. Thanks in advance.

 

my car at around 35-40 thousand miles lit up because of the MAJOR TUNE up time. new spark plugs and etc...
should cost around 200-300 bucks~
that might just be it if there isn't anything else.

 

Go to Autozone and have them pull the code.

Mine lit up at 72k miles and it was the 02 sensors, both.

 

how much did you pay for the 02 sensors?
my mechanic tells me i might have to change 3????
around 500-600$? is this right?

Who makes those O2 sensors. When mine blow, I'm gettin bosch O2 Senosors, heard they where good.

 

Is this Nissan conspiracy? I experienced the same exact situation where my engine light came on and the warranty was already expired(39K). I had the car checked out and it turn out to be the coils and also complained about back window noise. Expecting a challenge because warranty issue even though there is a TSB out for these items, I was advised by the Service mangaer to call Nissan Corp. directly. The Nissan rep was pretty cool about and gave the dealership auhorization for the repairs. I guess they realized it was not a wear&tare repair. Well ,Service manager called me back and said that he will honor the coils thru 60Ktranny wty, and Dave at Nissan COrp authorized repair for rear.

Is there away to check the engine codes like the 4th gen @ home.

 

My g/f's 2000 GXE had the check engine light come on both at 41k and at 48k and both times the result was a coil pack. Both times were covered (under extended warranty) and cost between $200 to $300 if not on warranty.

I asked about this and I was told that this was pretty standard for the 3.0L V6... that after a while all of the coil packs would be replaced. This is supposed to be different on the 3.5L V6...

One thing is for sure... get it in and get it taken care of!

I have a 2k1 GXE I had the check engine light come on at around 25K miles. When I brough t it in to nissan they just had to adjust something on the computer, I can't remember what it was but it was completely covered by the warranty. It was something with the computer.

 

ECU reprogramming

 

Mine came on around there and I was told it needed a software upgrade.
