Adding Automatic Climate Control?

When I bought my 2K3 Maxima, I wanted the automatic climate control option, but it was only available with the leather package. Is it possible to install one? I think that all you would need is the control unit and the sensor that goes on the top of the dash. What do you guys think? Anyone have any ideas?

Well, you can add climate control, just like you can add ABS, or a Moonroof. All these things are doable, but you are much much better off having had it done at the factory from the get-go.

I have been told that adding climate control is extremely cost prohibitive. I wouldn't bother. I dig no climate control myself, had it in my last car and I still always controlled the blower manually. Anyway

The only thing I wanted it before in the past was for the outside temp. and now that the 02's abd 03's have that its no need for it for me.

I was also thinking about doing this if I get a Max w/o climate control. About how much would this cost, it would probably have to be professionally installed, right?

PM Dario (that's his org name) about this one (you can also find him on NissanX.com) - he tried to swap the climate control into his 2k1 GXE - I think it was a lot harder than it seemed. He can probably give you some insight into the process.

I doubt if its plug n play. Its like trying to swap a non-bose with a Bose HU. Its not going to happen easily or cheaply, but its possible. Is it really that bad to turn it on manually?

There are somewhere around 7 sensors for the auto climate control, not to mention all the wiring and the unit itself. This would be difficult to accomplish, but the task is doable.
