Is check engine light covered under wtty?

Is it covered under the 5yr/60K mile powertrain wtty? Can anything other than powertrain trigger the check engine light?

Service advisor said that it will be known after the code is pulled if it is covered. Dunnow if he was just cautious or trying to give me BS.

It does depend on what it is. Mine came on because both my oxygen sensors went bad. It cost me $100 each time. I'm pretty sure that there are very few reasons that will be covered.

yup it all depends on why the CEL is on.

I had the CEL so i took it in for service after they hooked it up they asked me was the sit ever taken out. and being dumb that i'm i told them when i installed some audio parts on the car i took the sit out to install some wires and i had the key in the ignition... blah blah... i told them everything... don't know what i was thinking...

anyway... since i caused the CEL to come on i had to pay to have it reset

The CEL is the vehicle's way of letting you know something is wrong... when it comes on the code could be anything from the engine to the tranny to an O2 sensor.

It is something emissions related, usually o2 sensor gone bad...

or a coil pack... or damage to the vacuum canister underneath the car in the rear driver's side... etc.
