Y-pipe question

Please pardon my newbiness; But I'm trying to get an idea as to which y-pipe to get. I've looked over numerous threads, but still am a little confised as to which y-pipe would fit my car best without having to deal with the grinding/clunking noises some people have encountered. I have a 2k1 GXE Auto.

Thanks

i have the Budget Y-Pipe on my 2k1 SE and there's no grinding/clunking noises encountered.

Re: Re: Y-pipe question

Was there any noise increase in the cabin, or bees in a can, after you installed the budget y pipe? Was the performance increase noticable?

Are you running any other mods, intake, b pipe ?

I am trying to decide between a Budget or Warpspeed (SS or Alum).

Thanks,

no significant or detectable noise increase. the berk intake created more noise in the cabin...no bees in the can either.

the performance increase was definitely noticeable.

after the y-pipe, i added the frankencar midpipe and the budget b-pipe.

i live 30 minutes away from Budget so, for the price and for the fact that the pipes are SS and we use a ton of salt in the winter time here, the decision was pretty easy.

Does your B pipe have a resonator? Another member had a Warpspeed Y and B pipe with a resonator and said the B pipe added noise and was raspy at higher revs. What is your experience with the Budget B pipe?

my b-pipe has no resonator, however i do still have the stock muffler. it doesn't sound raspy although it is louder now at idle and WOT than with the stock b-pipe.

like i said, the frankencar intake makes more of a noticeable sound difference (to me anyway) than the y + non-resonated b + stock muffler combined

hope that helps

Thanks,
Definitely get the SS if you live in an area where it snows a lot and they salt the roads.

I have the cattman y-pipe installed.. No bees in the can. I did however get banging on the cross-member. But that was easily fixed by having the exhaust shop slightly bend the pipe up a lil bit. But I plan on replacing it with the Stillen SS one shortly..
