A new record! (at least for me!) :-)

Last time i went on a long road trip i only managed to get 28mpg on all highway driving.

For the past couple of weeks i've been driving to/from work 99% of the time on the highways and i'm now getting an average of 31.5mpg!

Not too shabby for a 3.5L V6 Automatic won't you say?

If I didn't live so near you, I would say it must be one hell of a tailwind, but I know better! Congrats! Was any part of this while being towed?

I just can't get near that with my 3.0.

On Houston highways? I think you just switched off the engine and let the traffic jam push you...

Well, a couple weeks ago - after filling up and calculating my mileage i thought - "No way, i can't be getting more than 30mpg". So i waited another week of similar driving styles and going the same exact routes (e.g. all highway, against the flow of traffic so i average between 65-75mph all the way).

After filling up this morning i got within 1mpg of my last fill-up and it's still above the 30mpg mark.

I'll see how it goes the next couple of weeks and verify the numbers several more times.

But otherwise, i'm still as surprised as you guys

I like your mod list

6-speed or auto? I have a 6-speed and 6th at 75mph gets very good mileage... all highway rocks!

I wasn't sure what mod list you were talking about until i remembered the list i put in my profile when i first got my Max.

I have an auto, sure wish i had a 6spd. That would have been soo much fun!

Mikey, great job. I've been getting 28-31 for quite a while since 90% of my travel is highway between 65-75. I'd do much better if I did not lead-foot it at lights

I've seen the tread where a UDP increased gas mileage. Hopefully, in a couple of weeks, I'll see if that is true of not.

LOL! Funny sig Matt!

It never ocurred to me i'd get this good a mileage on *any* V6. Seems like my Max is trying to talk to me after "overhearing" i might replace it for something more economical.

Let us know how the UDP goes.

no, I had a sweet price on it but corporate caught the misprice in the computer so I declined it. I'm going to keep my sound system stock with the exception of the sub. I want to make my 2K2 more performance than a huge sound system

I get 460 miles on the tank when i travel far. And that's doing about 80mph. My mpg has gotten good ever since i reached 10,000 miles. Used to be terrible.
Pioneer has gotten 450 miles on his tank in his modded vq30de.
