CD Changer Install Question

I'm looking at possibly installing a CD Changer (http://www.courtesyparts.com/specials/index.html), but this mentions that you have to have the CD/CHG button on your factory radio... well, my deck doesn't have that button, only CD and to be honest, I haven't seen any 2k2 decks that do have this button and don't already have the changer installed from factory. Can anyone shed some light on this??? Is it going to be a matter of plug-n-play still or is it really a different deck?

Note: Non-Bose - just plain vanilla stock radio

I was wondering about this also. Long ago I heard that it was definitely a different HU, but there have been conflicting views. Anyone ? ?

On the 2k2 and 2k3 cars, do you already have the in-dash 6 Disc changer? I know this seems like a stupid question, but I haven't seen a double-din without the in dash 6 disc, so i dunno what the faceplate looks like. The ones with the in dash 6 disc don't have a button for the add-on changer like MaxSE2K said. So you may want to read the owners manual to see if this is even possible.

As for the 2k and 2k1, any of the Double-Din sized radios (Bose included) should have the CD/CHG button on it. For the single-din GXE radios, the single-din in dash add-on changer is needed.

I don't have an in dash changer (though it would be nice). The manual does reference such a button, but the dealers couldn't tell me squat. The only showed me another car that has the changer already installed, and it does in fact have that button, but there's no reference for a 'changer ready' head-unit.

I'd love to know the answer to this too, I always thought maybe the 1-6 buttons could be used to change a 6 disc....

Hmm, I dunno then. If you know that there exists a 2k2/3 with the trunk mounted changer then i would give Dave Burnette a call and see if he can research it for you.

Thats why you don't have the option to connect a CD Changer.

When you 'build' your car on Nissan's website (when the 2k3's were current), and on autos.msn.com, you had an option to add a trunk mounted CD changed with a non-bose system.

I've been wondering about this. I don't have the in dash 6CD changer, can i swap out my dash unit, with the in dash 6? I didn't choose that package because i would've had to add leather and all that before i can get the HLSD, and the bose rattles.
Thanx for the help.

Error in the site maybe? Or maybe it's possible - who knows, but a radio without a CD CHG button normally wount adapt to a changer unless you want an FM modulator setup.

Does anyone know if the wires for the changer are already in the trunk or do you have to install them? I was thinking about getting the changer from courtesyparts.com also. I have the Bose system with the CD Changer button.

For the 2k/1 you have to wire the car yourself. It doesn't come wired. However, there's always the exception to the rule and some do. But probably 99% of the cars are NOT wired. It's not that hard. A few of us on here have done it so we can help you out.
