I got my first maxima last week. The first thing I would like to upgrade in the suspension. I'm thinking of adding eibach springs while keeping the stock shocks. I am concerned that the car will "bottom out" when I have passengers. Now, if I am going to scrape on speedbumps and bottom out when I have 3 other guys in the car, I won't put em on. Do you think this will be a problem? I'm also adding stillen front strut bar and a rear sway bar.

you shouldnt have any problems w/scraping or bottoming out or anything with the prokits...cuz its only 1.3" drop in front and 1" in rear...so you should be fine..im planning on goin w/the prokits soon too..people on the board say that its an uneven drop...i still havent seen pics so i dont really know...

 

I have 01 AE. The drop on mine is even imo. I used stock struts/shocks and it was fine for about 10000 miles, then it got kinda bouncy and started bottoming out. I put on Tokicos and it is much better now and I have no complaints. The Toks get bashed quite a bit but I like mine and have no problems with them.

 

I have the Eibach spring for 6 month, it works fine.

Only allow 1 passanger at you back seat. If you have more than one, you have problem with scraping.

 

I had my Eibachs on my 02 and the rear stock shocks went after 5500 miles. My case is not the norm, it could be because i live in NYC. Just thought i would share.

 

So it sounds like if I put these springs on I will have to replace the stock shocks and bottom out if I have people in the back seat. I'm glad I posted here, Eibach made no mention of this on their website. Hopefully the Rear sway bar and front strut bar will improve the handling to a point I find acceptable.

 

I've had Eibachs on my '02 with stock shocks/springs on for over 26k miles and have only scraped once ( last week on a huge speed bump ). I've had five adults in the vehicle and other than it hitting the bump-stops on highway bridge transitions, the bottom of the car has not bottomed out. I would suggest going ahead and getting stiffer struts/shocks for added frimness...

 

Do you mean stock shocks/struts? For now, I'm considering Eibach springs w/ stock shock/struts.

If you have Eibach springs with stock shocks/struts, how much of a difference did you notice once they were installed?

Most of my travel is highway. I noticed huge improvements in handling with the Eibachs. Going around corners with rough road was horrible stock and the car simply felt like it was floating all over. I can honestly say the springs have been my best mod, followed by RSB.

 

Awesome, thanks for the follow up. I *drove* my Maxima hard this weekend in Mexico and the ONLY thing I didn't like was the "floating" feeling in corners at speeds.

I had Eibach w/Stock springs for awhile..No problems.. However, Go w/Tein springs+Tokiko...the ride ish smooth..just my opinion!!

 

Have my Eibach's on since January. They have softened up a bit, but the drop is the same. I did go ahead and replace the stock struts, but mine already had 35k on them. Now, with about 100 pounds of stereo gear in the trunk, my 15 and 21 year old kids in the back seat, NO bottoming out. See the pic in my sig or check out my homepage for more picutres.

Oh, the drop is 1.75" front, 1.0" rear. Eibach is way too conservative with the 1.3" drop they tell everyone.
