I've been getting a chance to run my car hard lately. But I need to learn how to launch. I'm getting wheelspin thoroughout 1st and 2nd on my 5spd sc'd... I usually rev to like 2500rpm then let the clutch on and when I start rolling I floor it and that's where the spinning happens. And advice on what I need to do to get it done the right way

 

dude.....I find it so funny that u've done ALL THAT work to your car and NOW ur asking how to properly launch it...

*EDIT* - lemme drive ur car, I'll show u how to launch it...

 

I'm used to always launching when I was auto. Haven't really raced in my spd except on a roll. On a roll it's fine..

 

Good advice there chief, Would we call that post USELESS? Anyway, If you really wanna get a good launch off that baby, I would get some nice drag radials.

I have the same problem, but ONLY in first....wonder why not second. Actually, I do spin second at the track.

Anyways, the problem is "floor it" once rolling. STOCK VQ's have something called torque(4-bangers' wish they had some), so you can't just floor it.

You need to resist that urge to floor it. I can't do it, MAYBE you are stronger willed.

Try launching in second.

 

Yeah and I have the quaife installed too. I can imagine what would have happened if I didn't have it

But yeah, next I get a chance I'll try just like giving it half gas and letting it go.

 

Out of the 100times we raced I kept up 1 though 2nd with you most of the time.

Don't let go...just hold it where you launch and then slowly feed it more. In theory at least. I can't do it. LOL! All or nothing with my foot.

Try the track with Protendzas sometime. Can't hook sheit.
