my tires
#1
well, i had my tires rotated the other day (12,500 miles) and they said i had about 5000 miles left...i f*cking hate these damn tires...i know bridgestone makes good potenzas, why couldn't we get them? alright, well these should not only last 17,500 miles (i guess my few brakestands didn't help)...even though the treadware on the tires is only 160(?) i think...well, what should i replace them with? a friend of mine w/ a 2.5" sprint lowered integra gs w/ a ftsb has nitto 450s on 18" konig caffenes (215/35ZR18) and his car handles really well...he said that the best tires are toyo proxies t1-s...he says 2nd are nittos and he says pirellis aren't the greatest...i am looking for the best grip on corners and in water...i don't want anything close to my stock setup
a friend of mine w/ a 98 mustang gt 5spd just put on nittos and he said it feels like he's driving an entirely new car...thats what i'm looking for...new tires are suppossed to be the best handling improvement you can make
so i have the stock 17s
i want to keep the stock size or possibly go a little thinner on the tires...i'm thinking 225/50ZR17 or 225/45ZR17 or maybe 235/45ZR17 (some have done it and say that size works fine)...i'm looking to spend less than the stock tires $210 but money isn't really the issue here...i'd rather have really good really grippy tires that will last...i'm looking for the best grip possible on corners and wet roads...i'm not looking for tread length...that is fairly important but i'd rather get tires that will last 25,000 miles that will grip really well rather than tires that will last 40,000 miles for the same price that won't grip as well
so there have been lots of posts on this...everyone let me know what you all think

The treadwear is indeed 160. The real (non OEM) RE92s are rated at 300. I think that 160 is great, easier to kill!
I have also heard that 235/45R17 may cause problems on the stock 7 inch rim. Any comments or sites explaining why there is a potential problem would be welcome. Finding a 225/50R17 is not the easiest thing. You have 2 Bridgestones and a couple of Michelins and I think a Pirelli.
I am currently leaning to the Michelin XGT Z4, it's got some good review.
I saw a good signature about this...
"Driving is more enjoyable when treadwear is not an issue"
