Well, I've hated and envied you VI 5th gen guys for a while now. Every time I mash the gas and have to shift to 3rd at 5500 RPM, I am jealous. However, today I picked up a 2001 Grey Lustre SE 5 speed with 34000 miles.
The wife got a new job and that meant we no longer had the luxury of the company car provided by said former employer.
I found this one at Lexus of Tampa Bay. I would like to thank it's previous owner for being kind to it and I would also like to thank the lexus dealer for not knowing what it actually had. The car has two tone leather seemingly from leatherseats.com. MAXIMA is stitched into the two front seats. This car is also sitting neatly on H&R's, has a FSTB and I think it might have a Y-pipe already. Other than that, paint and interior look good, but nothing else too special. Looks to me like comfort and convenience package and that's it.
I stole it from them for $16,350 + TTT. Okay, that's not a steal, but it's good enough for me. They still have it because they have to tint it before I take actual delivery, but that should be tomorrow. I should have pics on maximafreak.com by then I would think.
I can tell you one thing tho, my car (98 SE, I/Y/B/5M) is def. much faster to 60mph than that 2001 SE. I don't know about 100mph yet, but definitely to 60mph.
(brain fart: I guess it can't have a y-pipe then. That flex section sure did look shiny under the car tho ...)

You can't just WALK in to this forum!
You have to go through the proper hazing just like the rest of us.
As soon as the senior girls from Glenbrook North High School get released from jail, prepare to be initiated the proper way.

And believe me, I didn't miss any modding. My wife probably won't let me mod it right away, so I'm glad it had some mods off the lot ... I'm extra thankful for the springs.Anyway, I was going to post this yesterday, so now that the site is back up, you can find OK pics at www.maximafreak.com and the one that's hard to make out is me taking a pic through the front windshield to show the leather since the car was locked.
Enjoy.
I was just giving you a hard time. Welcome to the 5th Gen. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I'm enjoying mine.
I almost bought an '01 GLE loaded but you can't get the low 1.9% financing on a used car that I got on my '03 SE and with the dealer incentives the price wasn't much more.

For all you young guys just starting out at 18 or 19 ... do yourself a favor and skip the credit card mess. Sure you have to wait longer for things if you have to save for them, but credit cards are the DEVIL. It's hard to belive they gave me 3 cards when I was in COLLEGE with NO full time job. Sure I was working part time, but how does that qualify me for a credit card??? I wish I could sue them, but in the end it's my own fault
