Speedometer question

Hello,

I have a 2001 Maxima and my mother has a 2001 I30t.
She is not particular about her dashboard, while I happen to like the electoluminescent dash of the Infiniti.

Other than the lighting, the dash looks identical, so I was wondering if anyone knew where the mileage information was stored.

If I were to swap odometers, will the mileage stay with the car (which I hope), or transfer with the speedometer clusters?
The reason is because I wouldn't like to void the warranties on the two cars by swapping speedometer clusters and screwing up the mileages...

Thank you for any helps...

IIRC, it is stored in the cluster itself.

This is a question that I have been wondering as well. When I see the gauges for sale on EBay, they state the mileage on them. I have a feeling that the mileage is stored where if you do the 'swap' it would reflect the mileage that was on the original vehicle.

Am I correct here?
