i got a 2001 maxima , today i was comin home from work and this i think 2000 camero ss pulls up next to me reving its engine. so i got ready, as soon as the light turned green and blasted,i was like 2 cars infront of him and still goin, and suddenly he just blasted pass me... i was suprised... are camaro SS supercharged... cause i thought i had him when i was on fourth...

How fast were you going when you shifted to 4th? I have a 2k2 and wouldn't get to 4th until about 90... what's the best shift speed/rpm for a 5-speed?

I'm going to guess either he wasn't trying early and was just playing with you, or you shifted to 4th too soon.

 

you will never have a camaro SS, even with every bolt on out there you will never get an SS. They are not supercharged but are powered by a 5.7 LS1 V8 which puts out 320hp and runs 13s bone stock in the 1/4. My friend has a 99, its fast, unless u got boost and juice, dont mess with em.

man i've raced camaros before, i've beaten the the regular ones, but not the SS. plus i dont think he was cuttin me slack cause i could here his engine goin crazy. it is true that they are alot faster than maximas but i just cant take a loss that well. i need to know why he beat me so i can take them or at least keep up with them next time

 

oh i got a supercharger on mine.. so i can hit about 290hp somtimes

further the ss is purebread muscle oriented at power from the ground up. personally i don't think its worth the aggravation and humiliation to try to stand up to them.

 

I believe foreign and domestic cars shouldn't race each other. But it's nice to race and kill a domestic car!!!

Our 2k2s/2k3s will SMOKE a V6 Camaro... but don't mess with the v8's, and NEVER mess with an SS...

YA THATS A REALLY BIG EGO BUSTER RACING A SS!!! HE WAS PROBABLY JUST PLAYING WITH YOU TOO!

ALL I KNOW...THOSE CARS PULL EXTREMELY HARD IN 3RD!!!!

 

The guy in the SS was obviously toying with you. There's no replacement for displacement. That engine has gobs of torque right off the line and because it's RWD it's gonna hook up pretty well if he doesn't have crap tires.


All you can do is hope he misses a shift and you might have a chance.

 

First off a SS puts down maybe 5 more hp than a Z28, so why does everyone think a SS is so much faster than the Z28?

A LS1 anything will beat any bolt-on/non FI Maxima.

My Maxima pulls the same 60ft time as my old '02 Z28, so off the line a LS1 with stock tires has no traction.

The LS1 in 2nd will pull the Maxima like it hit reverse. 3rd is worse and 4th even more.

My stock '02 Camaro was low 13s @ 108mph. That is with a ****ty 2.3 60ft!
