Service Engine Soon Light

My service engine soon light just came on this afternoon. This happened before when the gas cap was not screwed on tight enough and was a simple tighten and disconnect the battery and reconnect fix. This time I tried the same routine but the light is still on. I have not driven the car since resetting. Should I give it a day or two and see if it goes off or take it to a dealership. I live in Naples, Italy and really do not want to take it out to one of the locals. If anyone know a quick fix please let me know.

Try disconnecting the battery again. When its disconnected stomp on the brakes. The thought is that it drains the electricity stored in the car and will clear the SES (service engine soon) light. If that doesn't work then have it checked and see what the code is.

disconnect the battery, step on the brake pedal for 30 seconds or so, then leave the battery disconnected overnight.

that's what i did when i got a SES a few weeks ago...went out the next morning and hasn't come back yet (knock on wood)
