fun with an M5

Now, I have seen a total of four M5's on the road since I became educated in the ways of fine automobiles. Recognizing this rare machine for what it is, I am naturally drawn to observe it a little closer than most traffic. Last night, I saw the fifth M5, and when I got close enough to look inside, my eyes revealed something I will never, ever see again as long as I will live:

There was a very cute, young woman with a pony tail driving this awesome car. And since the M5 only comes with a manual shifter, chances are pretty good she knew all about what she was driving.

Unfortunately, as much as I flirted and tried to get noticed, she would not do anything more than hold the cruise control. How upsetting--except that just before I exited, she did look over at me and smile.

Oh well, I guess it's a good thing she did not try to show off, because I would have ruined my pants.

M5 is a beautiful car. It's a dream. I also like the 2000 750iL. Loved driving the 750.

I live in St. Pete, FL. One of the M5's I have seen was in Daytona (at bike week). Last week, I had to take a business trip to Miami Beach, and Will Smith was right--everybody has $100K cars. I saw a lot of S600's, C55AMG, and even a couple of Bentleys. It wouldn't surprise me at all if M5's a pretty common in south Florida.

Make sure you get a warranty when you do.

If you think the car is amazing, you should see what repair bills are!!!

My Mother-In-Law had a 1998 740i. That car was amazing. Very fast and smooth. I drove it a few times and it always made me smile. She got rid of it though. Too many problems/no warranty (she bought it used-private party).

EXPENSIVE to repair!!! Power steering pump alone was around $2500.

She has a 2001 MB E320 now. Nice car but a bit underpowered-especially considering the price.

my .com friend replaced the clutch in his M5 twice before 20k miles... BMW only covered the first. All he would say was the bill was over $3,000 but we all think it was closer to $4,000.... for ONE clutch job.

she was probably thinking... wow look at this stupid kid, he actually thinks I like him.

You probably would've gotten a look back from her if you were driving like a ferrari, or something that would've impressed her. She probably gets that crap all day.
