Rotor Question

Who replaced their stock rotors to aftermarket and what kind did you go with? Also what are the plus and minus of your choice and what brand of pads did you turn to. Sorry so many questions im looking to replace all my rotors and want to see all that is out there on the market..
Thanks in advance

That is a good question unfortunately the search function isn't working... I hate to se someone ask a good question and not get any responses... Anyways from what I have read you want to stay away from brembo sloted/cross drilled rotors. Plenty of .org memebers have complained of them cracking. I hope you get some more relies to your tread man. You may want to post on other boards as well.

Peace

I heard good things about power slots..

Powerslots

My buddy picked them up for his Accord, I'll post the reviews once we get time to install them.

I have the stillen cross drilled rotors. I have had them replaced already 2 times. There is a problem with the new generation rotor from stillen. The axxis pads and stillen pads both cut into the rotor and creat 1/4" thick lines in the rotor causing vibration/noise and SQEEL Gets annoying. Best thing to do is buy cheapo pads from AutoZone that are non-metalic and they will work fine.

Hope this will help

Re: Rotor Question

How much were you looking to spend?

The so-called 'big brake kits' can run you into the thousands, but those usually come with more than just rotors. Buying aftermarket rotors alone can save you money, but prices move upward as you get fancier (from blanks to slotted to cross-drilled to slotted & cross-drilled).

I'll be getting new rotors all around soon too, but I'll just try to get Brembo blanks along with Bendix Import Quiet pads. That should work for me. Stainless steel brake lines would be nice, but not in my budget at the moment.

Peace.

Im not looking to break the bank on a purchase of rotors just looking to upgrade from the garbage Nissan put on the car. Im sure alot of peopl on this forum are tired of getting their rotors surfaced to only have them warp within 5000 to 10000 miles. The brembo blanks where can this be purchased and what type of pads would you use with them?

I was thinking of purchasing the Brembo blanks from www.drivewire.com but it looks like they are out of them. They had a sweet deal with free shipping too. Oh well.

You can always try www.nopionline.com for them too.

I replaced my rear brake pads a while back with Bendix Import Quiet pads, and they've given me no problems, so I'll probably get a new set for the front brakes too.

I just put on 2 weeks ago, 2 brembo front rotors slotted/dimpled
with ultimate Metal Axxis pads.

they were all good for about a week, and then they started making noises when i used to stop from around 30mph to zero. the braking at high speeds did get better, but that noise is coming from the pads.

i asked my mechanic what to do, he told me, the best pads for the car are the original ones. they wont do any problems and probably you wont loose much in braking power if you use them instead of something aftermarket.

i have a question. the brakes kinda grind when i brake at low speeds, not 100% of the time, more like 75%. its not the rotors, its the pads for sure, but do you think that noise is scrweing up my rotors? , it does sound kinda bad.

Mine make a weird noise too. Maybe its the same thing. I'm on metal master pads and OEM rotors, resurfaced once.

the noise sounds like, the pads are completely gone and the caliper just presses against the rotor.

I have custom slotted, and cross-drilled rotors on the front and back, and stainless steel lines. I'm running Axxis Ultimate pads on the front and Metal Master on the back. I have never had any grinding or squealing noises from my setup. I did just get the front rotors resurfaced after 25K miles on them, but that's it. Smooth quiet stopping ever since I got them.

I've got all four powerslots wiht axis metal master pads, very good rotors so far, absolutely no squealing or noises of any kind, and no warping either, smooth just as it should be, and I think the brake bite is alot stronger than it ever was with the stock rotors and pads.

I have Brembo X-drilled rotors on front & back and Axxiss pads on front & back with no problems and lots of improvement to the brakes.

Oh, I also did the 300zx convertion (it was pretty resonable)

get your calipers checked when you get the pads put in, i had that problem too plus my calipers were stuck and i ended up having to replace them last week.

I'd check pads in off-line mode and sand them if they have anything left. I've heard such sound from my friend car when he had his caliper pins seized due to improper pads intallation and damaged pin boots.
