ya i've had that. got a couple on the old camry, one on Max, and was drivin a silverado the other day and the same thing happend. can't really avoid little rocks when you're goin 70 tho. it sux, but its not a real problem unless its right in your field of vision, at least for me. never had a problem wtih the chip turning into a larger crack, maybe i've just been lucky though

Same thing happened to me in the first month. I've got 2 chips and a bullseye. Almost like the windshield as not as good quality as my previous cars

Got one from a POS Subaru wagon cutting me off...***** could have waited 1-2secs. until I passed, but noooOOOOO.
Looks like it's getting bigger now, so I'm going to see if I can get it repaired/filled BEFORE I go through the hassle of replacing it.

I wouldn't replace the windshield, even though its free. I saw a 20/20 special where they show how a replaced windshield will pop out in an accident. Apparently John Henry was wrong, and the machine really is better at some things.
I have cracks in my max, my wife has some in her's. Fact of life, that's all.

It's like birds know when the car is washed so they can dive bomb you. Pebbles know a new windshield and are magnetically attracted. I picked up a bulls eye on my '92 SE within 500 miles of picking it up new. Eventually cracked through that point during some sub-zero weather a couple years later. Now I've picked up a decent sized chip within three days of picking up my '03 SE. Will have to have it fixed.
Yes, with minor chips I prefer repair to replacement, even if you have insurance picking it up. Replaced a windshield on my '84 Pontiac STE. About a year later took another pebble hit with a crack. While replacing it again the shop (different from the first) pointed out rust on my A-pillar where the earlier windshield was not properly sealed. Luckily it hadn't progressed much. Sanded off the rust and hit with primer before putting in the new windshield.
Also, if you do go for a replacement, push for Nissan factory glass. When I did the windshield on my '92 SE my insurance company pushed for a certain shop. They promised "premium glass". I asked the brand. It took three days to get them to say anything other than "premium glass". Never heard of the brand. I would have said OK to LOF or PPG glass but this was a complete unknown. Had to insist with the insurance company that they were responsible to repair or replace with like kind and quality and that the only way I could be sure of this was to have Nissan glass. Also pointed out that the windshield is a critical safety component, both from a structural point of view and visibility.
Nissan glass ran $1,200 vs. $300 for "premium glass" but I felt better having it.
Also, don't go with the convinience of "come to you" shops unless the weather can be assured to be dry and temperatures moderate. Temperature and humidity are critical for proper curing of the glues. Make sure the shop does it in a controlled environment and not just in their parking lot.
