Wheels

OK, I bit the bullet. My 18" Moda R6s will be here tomorrow (Friday). I hope they look good with Sheer Silver. I like the way the TE wheels look on the car so I think the bright finish of the Modas will look as good. Next I will lower it a bit to get rid of some gap. For tires, I chose the Yokohama AVS ES100 in the 245/40 variety. I had AVS Intermediates on my previous Max and liked them. Time will tell.

I've got the same tires - excellent grip, and ZERO hydroplaning. The only reason to slow down in the rain now is for slower traffic

MoCoMax, that's good to hear. My last Max with Yokos was great in the rain. Tire wear wasn't too good though. But, the ES 100s have a tread wear rating of 280 whereas my old Yokos had a rating of 160. I went with the yokos for grip too. My old Intermediates were awesome. Looking forward to my new look.

They're not quite as sticky as the Intermediates, but they're better rated in the rain (see Tire Rack), and they'll last longer. I hope to get 20K out of mine.

Yes, I got the tires from the Tire Rack. I think that a Car Domain site will be in order after the wheels. As far as mileage goes, I hope to get at LEAST 30K. My Intermediates on my 89 5speed lasted just over 20K with very agresive driving and even some track time. I plan on using my OEM wheels for winter though with some Blizzaks.

I use 20K as a conservative number - I tend to toss tires when they get hard, rather than when the tread is gone. At $135 each, I can afford to replace the Yok's every couple of years.

I also put snows on the OEM wheels, but went with the Pirelli 210's. I know two people who used Blizzaks, both of whom said they were awesome tires when new, but wore quickly and got hard in a hurry. I expect to get at least 3-4 seasons out of the Pirelli's, and I had no problems getting around this past winter.

*@!*#@!!!! Doesn't it figure that ONE wheel showed up with damage? Just my luck. I must say though, the other 3 look quite awesome on the car. Now I HAVE to get pictures.
