I dropped a TV on my car.

Tuesday morning I woke up with a horrific flu bug that would have normally kept me in bed all day, but unfortunately I had an appointment that day that I couldn't miss. Anyhow, I was insanely dizzy and feverish all day and I could barely walk 5 feet without wanting to fall over.

With our elevators being down, I had to carry a 13" portable TV/VCR combo down 4 flights of stairs and to the parking garage with a nasty fever. Add in the fact that it was 114 degrees out and you can only image how covered in sweat I was by the time I reached my car.

As I got to my car, I opened my front passenger door to set the TV on the front seat. As I went to put the TV in, I inadvertendly stumbled to my left and I could only watch the TV slip out of my sweaty hands and slam into the middle of the closed rear passenger door. I somehow managed to pin the TV against my car and ended up saving it (although it was a $99 P.O.S. Broksonic TV). My car was not so fortunate.

As I peeled the TV away from my beloved Maxima, to my horror, I saw a dark black, 8 inch long, dent in my door. I wanted to die. So I went to my meeting really sick and really p!ssed off. When I got home, I buffed the hell out of the dent (sick as a friggin dog, mind you) and as it turns out, most of it was superficial. I ended up with what appears to be just a really bad door ding. I am getting it sucked out this weekend for $75, but I also have a $20 coupon. Plus I closed the deal that I was taking the TV to in the first place for a small amount but will more than cover the repair cost.

Anyhow, I can't wait until Saturday morning so I can get this damn thing fixed.

Dude, as much as you have put into them over time, did you ever consider that you and Max's are just a cursed combo?

Believe me, I would have. It's almost like I threw it into my rear door though. The damage was done by the time I could have done anything.

jjs- My Max isn't cursed. I am. The day we bought my wife's Xterra, she met me at my softball game with it. Cedric Bonner (QB for the AZ Rattlers- arena fb), gets up and smashes a home run which takes one bounce off the street, right into her rear quarter panel. We literally had the car for one hour. I even told her not to park "in the outfield", but she apparently didn't know what that meant.

if its a large dent with a dull crease, it wont be anything for Dent Doctor to pop out.. I've seen them actually work a quarter panel out that had been hit in a low speed fender bender (parking lot). will put you back $75ish

Have you ever considered selling the 2 cars and maybe take Public Transportation?

Public transportation in Phoenix is the biggest joke in the universe. There are like a total of 4 buses covering 100 square miles.

Try the Dent Wizard. They pulled some dings/dents out of my door with good success. It was only about $150.

Don't do that to a G35. Andy will destroy it after a month.

Look at it this way---$75 to remove the dent is cheaper than buying a new tv/vcr combo because you let it fall to the ground to save the car door. Feel better?

Didn't think so.

That DOES suck. But, look at it this way - you saved the TV, the door ding will only cost about $50 to fix, and you're probably feeling better by now...

Obviously it's a case of bad "car-ma"!

Hope you feel better and the Maxima is easily repaired. I've been sick all this week too but not as severe as what you described- I'm just getting through the "coughing up half of my right lung" phase...

the main difference between Andy and the rest of us is that he admits this stuff happens.. I would probably be too embarrased to tell you guys if I did that. But we all do some things that were poor judgement in hindsight

That Sucksss!

i really feel sorry for u andy!!
but at least u have an excuse(u were sick), in my case i was polishing my car with the buffer. Then i decided to lay it down on my hood, when i came to pick it back up i accidently hit the switch and baammmm it whips out of my hand and leave an autograph in my driver side fender size of a thumb(small enough that it can't be pulled with the dent king).

man, why don't you take care of yourself, instead of the car.
it's 'just' a car, dents come out.
