Yes you can. Unless you have a 2k2 or 2k3.

 

Y2kevse has it done and pcguru has it also.

 

 

And unless you really want a 5 speed it's pointless.

 

You still can trade in your car with a 6-speed.

is it better getting the vb mod on a 2001 auto rather then the conversion?

 

It'd be better to take the 3000 you where gonna put into a conversion into the auto.

Last I knew the stock tranny was 1800 plus performance clutch, flywheel, short shifter, and labor comes to around 3 grand.

 

I wish I had a manual. The automatic trans is such a disappointment. Still kicking myself in the a$$. I've only had the car for about 4 months, so I can't really traded it in without taking a beating.

 

you can easily find the parts in a good car yard. yes it has been done. around 2k-5k on a great deal or do it yourself for less.

you can't put a 2k2-2k3 6spd in a 00-01. I bet you could swap a 2k2 auto to a 2k2 6spd.

 

It's being done as we speak. Jeff has a 2k2 6spd in his 4thgen. Everything mounted and everything. He just has to finish up a few things. That'll be the 1st 4thgen that's blown with a 5spd

As for the writeup. The parts you'll need are the same for a 4thgen.. Just use Hal's writeup..

 

conversion??? it doesnt cost a ridiculous amount of money.. good caryard..(junkyard if you will) lol
has everything you need for about 1800..from the manual ecu to the brake pedal. you can prolly bring that down to like around 1600..and say about 1100 for labor..
u can get it done for less than 3 grand.
thats why im looking on buying a 5 speed tranny tomorrow and getting this done soon

 

YES! You need to get it done soon.. Hey get the parts now and jump in front of Will. He won't have his parts till June 20th. So if you have all your parts youcan do it now

 

those dam parts better still be there cause if someone bought em already:

have a list of too many things this summer already
gonna try and fixup the scratches on all the rims.. buy some tires later, get the body looking good and have it stop flaring out in the back and the whole 5 speed conversion

Yeah you can trace the vin and possibly decode it??

Just get me the VIN from the donor car- I can tell if it is VLSD or not-
