Should I go through with this?

I wanted to put some nicer looking muffler tips on my car without having to get a new muffler. I have had aftermarket mufflers in the past and I do not want any noise level increases, so that option is out.

This sounded like a great idea and all until I added up how much it is going to cost. Magnaflow Tips were $45 shipped to my door. The muffler shop wants $20 to install the tips and $10 to raise the stock muffler up a bit so it sits more flush.

Anyhow, is it worth $75 just to have new tips on? Here is what I bought. They are 3" tips.

They look really big in the pics, but they actually aren't that big. I test fit one of the tips here. Keep in mind that it will be raised up a bit.

Dude mine are 3" and I would have gone 3.5" but the rear valence would not allow it. It does not look large at all, just more aggressive. Btw Andy of you do want a diff muffler with little to no increase in noise get the DynoMax goodluck with the install, im sure ill see it sure enough.

Can you possibly get a soundclip, ive heard the HKS rear section sounds good but still dont know if its worth it. Does it drone at all?

I wouldn't do it if I were you. Either get a real muffler or don't at all. Just my 2 cents.

Then he can get a dynomax for like $45 with very little to no noise increase.

No different than adding a body kit IMO.

Go for it. I hate the look of the exhaust on my Max. I really like the G35 but it would have cost me $10k more for basically the same car, only with RWD (and a nice exhaust).

I say go for it. I was really thinking about it, but I wanted a little deeper sound. It is only a little bit of $$ considering what you have spent on wheels.

I wouldnt do it if I were you either, but having someone else do it would make that max look

The last thing Andy should attempt to do is weld something. Yet alone so close to 15+ gallons of fuel. Im pretty sure hes gonna take it to a mufflr shop (I hope anyway )

With both the tips on your muffler will look like my Cattman muffler. The only way I would do anything like that is by having the stock tips cut off, and then the new tips welded on. I wouldn't just put those over the stock tips.

Someone at stillen once told me that the hks exhaust for the maxima sounded horrible and the greddy was the best one..The greddy looks small from the side, but it's only an illusion oohhh haha Anyway I hope in the end your exhaust doesn't look ricey...Good luck =)

Sorry, no sound clips. It does drone a LITTLE BIT at like 60ish. Any type of music kind of muffles it though. Also, since I don't go 60 on the highway, it doesn't matter anyway

Thats not bad. They'll replace the the rubber hangers with smaller ones. So that is less than cost from Napa if you were going to do it yourself.

...Looks good Andy. Looks like the car SHOULD look when stock...

In principle I am a fan of ANY mod that improves the stock look of any car, without having to be radical or expensive... Good job!

No, as u can see the picture wasn't taken directly from behind.

Very very nice Andy, no one will believe that is still the stock muffler. I think it adds something, not sure what it is, to the back to make it look more complete. Another excellent modification.

Yup, I got it raised up a bit also. Total ended up being $20 installed and the parts were $45 from A-1.
