Hey guys i know it is of topic. But people on the org know a lot about many cars. Friend of mine has volvo s40. And the warranty is almost up. Should he buy an extanded warranty for 1600$ or not. How reliable are the s40? Cause i don't know a thing about volvos;-(

Well it depends....Is it stick or auto? Volvo and SAAB share a lot of the same parts. The ZF transmission is VERY WEAK. I would definately recommend the extend. He may never hafta use it or he may use it too often. Either way its cheaper than having to pay for the repairs yourself. Trust me I know. I paid $682.86 for a trans. fluid flush & fill, new filter, oil pressure switch install, oil change, filter, coolant flush & fill,New thermostat & thermo fan switch,in my old '91 Saab 9000CD turbo. He'll be doing himself a favor buy getting the extend.

Murf's law...if you don't pick up the xtended warrenty, your engine will blowup a month later. Buy it and you'll never have a problem!

Yes u can,...A warranty is a warranty. As long as the warranty covers that, he's good

I looked at the extended warranties when I bought my 2K off-lease, and when I mentioned 'mods', I thought the guy was going to hang up on me. It seems that modded cars will have as tough a time with warranty claims with them as you would with the dealer (or worse).

Needless to say, I told 'em to stuff it.
