worn out suspension

Hi! This is my first time posting here. My springs and shocks are like completely worn out and I need to replace them, obviously. My 2k has 155,000 on it and my husband wants to buy a new 2k4. I love my car and i want to know which shocks/springs i should buy and if there is a place close to me where they can be installed. Are there any group buys on this stuff? I drive about 250 miles a day, 90% on the freeway. Thanks for your patience.

your springs should be fine.. just buy some new shocks.. I'd recommend KYB GR-2. Unless you want to drop your car, keep your stock springs.

Go with KYB AGXs and some Tein springs, that is of course assuming you like to weave through traffic at 100mph. If not, the KYB GR-2s should be good, you can just use the stock springs as mclee45 has already mentioned, unless you are looking to lower you car.

WTF is wrong with you guys?

MaxLady2000 you say your hubby wants to buy a new 04 MAX if it's loaded that'll run $35k or more. Since he already has NEW CAR on the brain take him to an Infinity and test drive a G35 maybe even a G35 coupe. He'll take a look at the sticker back up and go hmmm then you can do that thing women do best and sweet talk him into it. You'll love the car.

If you really love the Max and don't want a new payment then get the KYB GR2's. But you really should test drive a G.

250x5x52x3=195000-40000holidays and other days off=155000

Makes no sense to lease either to many miles, gotta buy and make it part of the business expense and deduct on taxes.

go with KYB GR-2's and if you really want to get new springs get H&R's they are a bit stiffer then stock SE's and they won't lower you car that much. you can always buy nissas spring but they are to expensive/overpriced. New car is a good idea, but since you drive so much and your car has no other mechanical problems just keep it as a work horse. if you sell it or trade it in you won't get much and your new car will be in the same shape in 3 years. I have the similar situation (thank God i don't have to drive 250 miles a day). I drive 60 miles a day and getting to 70k soon. I decided to keep it and lease or buy another car after i pay this off.

Your best bet is to keep the stock springs (they really don't 'wear out') unless you want a sportier ride, and just get some Tokico Blues to replace the front struts and rear shocks. The Maxima has struts in front and shocks in back that are both tied in to coil springs. Like I said, the springs are probably fine, some Tokico Blues or KYB GR2 (like was previously mentioned) will give you a great 'like new' feel. The shocks and struts can be bought at shox.com, or many many aftermarket stores locally. Best price on KYB GR2 is from a group deal running right now in the group deal forum for $260 I think.

Biggest question you should ask is, once you have bought them, WHERE is there a shop you can TRUST to PUT THEM ON FOR YOU??? That is a big important question to ask these guys on here. Where are you located so some one can recommend some one???

Good Luck!

we live in southern california. my husband has considered the G35 sedan and coupe, and we test drove the altima last weekend. The ride on the 2k is so harsh and rough, i can feel every little tar strip and lane divider. it would be very good news to not have to replace the springs. My husband will change them out. He has modified his RX-7 and the F-150. Thanks to everyone for their advice. You all seem very knowledgeable and nice. Thanks again

Maybe it's because they aren't selling too well but mine was significantly less than $35k. It doesn't have nav. and it is a manual but otherwise loaded up. Maybe they'll fix the chastity belt grille in a couple of years, who knows.
