Post in the southeast forum bro, you'll get alot more help. AAMCO transmissions will do a valve body upgrade for you, but it would be a trans-go kit. If I were you, i'd forget about the VB mod all together unless your going to boost...it won't improve your quarter mile times at all, it'll just make your shifts harsh.

One of the things I have read about the VB mod is that it essentially eliminates, or at least lowers the time it takes to shift between 1st and 2nd, is that correct? Also, what's "trans-go kit" and how is it different from what Maximum Tuning does?
Thanks

A valvebody (VB) mod's purpose is to strengthen the tranny and increase the longevity. You DO NOT save a significant amount of time in the quarter mile with a VB mod. People have compared stock vs. VB mod and shown maybe one or two tenths of a second difference.

Most people get it when they boost, but there are people like me who have it without boost as well. I got it to increase the longevity of my tranny. The 5th gen trannies are pretty weak and I heard too much on here about people blowing them. I did not want to risk it so I got the VB mod.

I don't know what a trans-go kit is. Ask Craig Mack, PM him.

The only place you can really get a VB mod for a Maxima is Maximum Tuning. They are based out of New York. You can find their info on www.maximumtuning.net Speak to Jeff. What they can do is send an upgraded VB to you and you swap it out with your stock VB and you send that back to them. All they need is payment and a deposit. There is no downtime that way.

Hope this helps.

One or two tenths of a second in the 1/4 is a pretty good gain considering you aren't adding any HP. If you look at it in terms of performance/price it's probably as good or better than getting a cat-back exhaust.

one to two tenths is awesome, plus it makes youre tranny last longer, had i known earlier i would have gotten this as my 1st mod, foodmanry did u get the stage 3? and if so did u notice a difference in accelaration or quickness in the rpm gauge?

The .1-.2 is not gaurenteed. Lots of people gained nothing, member Synki for instance. The higher power you run, the more effect the VB mod will have. If your stock or have a few bolt-ons, IMHO you probubly won't see a notable improvement. Just don't get your hopes up and set yourself up for a letdown.

The Trans-Go kit is a cheap kit similer to the VB mod. It replaces various stock parts to strengthen the transmission and toughen up the shifts. It doesn't do quite the job a valve body upgrade does, but it's a lot cheaper too. IMO I would skip that. (but if it was me i'd skip the VB mod all together unless I was boosting).

Cool,

Thanks for the info. I've been looking to see if I should boost my Max or whether I should go with other upgrades. So far based on everything I have read on the org, reliability issues do arrise after the car has been boosted, and since I have to drive almost across the entire state on daily basis, I don't think I should chance it. I am however tempted by the VB mod as it does promise to help with the slow shifting of the stock auto transmission.
Thanks again for the info.

Im posting kinda late in the game but the auto trans from 95-03 are the same trans code. Its the fact that there is more power going thru the tranny's. 4F04FEA 4fo4feB
