What is involved in ECM/ECU reprogram/flash???
Report them to Nissan HQ. The TSB states that it's a half hour worth of labor. To be honest it doesn't take them even that long. The hook a consult II which is a handheld device to the inside port on your car and punch in the update and after a few minutes it's updated. It cost me $37. They told me they would do it for free per the TSB, but they wanted me to put my stock intake back on before they did it. It wasn't worth the effort so I paid the $37.
Thanks for the input, guys. I know, $300 IS high. The tech also said something about a sensor that had to be replaced as well. Perhaps there was a communication problem between the service writer and the tech. I made it clear to the service writer that I ONLY wanted the reprogram/flash and NOT replace O2 sensors unless the SES lit up again.
I'm trying to figure out if the O2 sensors are really bad or if it's the ECU/ECM.

Your MAF probably needs to be replaced, not your o2 sensor. I'm too lazy to do a search, but someone here created a wonderful list of the MAF part #'s that were having the problem and the 1 that has had no problems. The TSB clearly states that the MAF should be replaced if it is the bad part number. Make 100% sure you don't have one of the falty MAF's. It will definately go bad sooner or later. 2 coworker's wife's just went bad and their cars are completely stock. This is a free fix. If they tell you that they couldn't find anything, keep taking it back to them or find another Nissan Dealer. The MAF is $500.

There's been lots of discussion about whether the O2 sensors are covered under the powertrain warranty and a lot of other related topics. One of them, interestingly, was started by someone who replaced their O2 sensors and started getting the SES after, IIRC, 3000 miles. It seems to appear that the O2 sensors are not malfunctioning but something else is.
I'm hoping JUST an ECU reprogram will make my SES disappear for good. If it shows up AGAIN, it must mean that the O2 sensors really are bad... OR....... a shady dealership didn't actually reprogram anything? Pretty much, I don't want to fix something that isn't broken... especially when it costs this much $$$.
Either way, I made this pretty clear to the service writer... I don't know what happened. Damned fools.
