I finnally bought one!

I've been bugging you guys for a week or so now about maximas

I finnally went out and found one that meets my criteria, got a decent price and put a deposit down

Here are the details

02 SE
21K miles
Charcoal gray
frost interior
leather
Bose
Moonroof
Meridian package
traction control
mudguards

It has everything except navagation. I bought it at a lincoln dealer, they took it in trade. I thought he was pretty reasonable started off at $19,999 and I got him to $19 even. I'm a real hardass negotiator normally, we got up and left. I called him later to make the deal. He wouldn't budge any lower and frankly after seeing what else is out there... condition, equiptment for the price, I believe that I got a good deal. A nice car for teh money and will all the little toys.

That's actually not a bad price for an '02 equipped as stated. I checked www.kbb.com and www.edmunds.com, Edmunds seemed a bit low and Kelley Blue Book seemed a little high but his price is right in there.

What interest rate did you get and did you get a fair price on your trade is the other part of the equation. I considered one used Maxima ('01 GLE w/every option) but the dealer was asking $19900 for the car (which was too much) and the financing wasn't as good as new car financing. I ended up getting an '03 SE in Sheer Silver w/moonroof and frost interior for $22,400 with 1.9% financing.

At least you have the 3.5 liter engine!!!

Congrats and welcome to the forum.

I diid not give him a trade in

if you can help me find another one in good shape for cheaper, I have yet to get the car yet.

Hertz seems to have prices at like 17ish for base SEs no roof no leather no bose and don't know about condition.

And everyone that I saw that was any cheaper was in horrible shape and no options

if you think I'm getting screwed help me

no prob Chris.....just ask....

to gauge your interest, this might help...

I p/u my 03 brand new with TE and sunroof for $23k plus tax/title 3 months ago which listed for $28k....

a brand new 03 with EVERYTHING shouldn't be more than $24-$25k....

dude you need to realize 04's have been out for a minute...every day a dealer keeps a leftover 03 on his lot, he get's screwed....knowing this should net you a terrific bargain PLUS a BRAND NEW 03 will net you a 0% finance rate for 60 months pending credit approval...

on a used 02 you probably are looking at no better than %5 if your credit is excellent (current prime rate is 4.5%) because Nissan gives no incentives for used cars....

I would recommend you stay away from previous rentals. I worked in the car rental industry for 6 years, those cars get thrashed!

well I've checked around and haven't found any 03's available, a dealer around here was locating the for people and has stopped doing this b.c there are none around.

As far loan, I have a rate of 3.79

I first tried to buy a leftover 03, couldn't find one. if you know of any available... let me know

Used ones... at least other places in teh forum people were saying that an 02 loaded for 23.5 was bad and 20 is about right
if base SE is going for like 17 i didn't think 19 was bad

At least you have you car, I signed my papers and haven't had a real
chance to enjoy it. Had it for 3 days when realized it had been damaged.

They offered to fix everthing at there cost which came to about
$2500 dollars. So as of now I'm still waiting on my car.

They did give me a loaner but it's a 2002 grand prix(fully loaded)had only 68 miles on it but it's not a MAXIMA.

What would you guys do if you had to wait this long, Iv'e already
signed for the car. I have a survey which is going to Nissan
(won't be to nice)

Thats not a bad price at all. 3 weeks ago I paid 25120 plus tax on an 03. Sheer Silver, black leather, bose, sunroof, etc. Its an SE.

Well below invoice for still a NEW car. And, since there aren't many 04's around this year, the 03's are still selling for good decent money and there is still a demand for them.

I think that is actually a very good price for a car with all those options. 21k miles is nothing for a Maxima with a proven engine. Congratulations and enjoy it.

Hey Chris, I think you have a decent deal in the works. You will quickly learn that here on the org, your always gonna hear "man you should only pay 10k for a brand new max"..... Like others have said prices are going to vary place to place dependent upon availability and demand.....so go get your 2K2 and congrats. 19K for a car with slightly high miles and was stickered 30K plus is a decent deal...welcome to the org

19k for everything except Nav on an 02 w/21M. nice deal!

i am actually looking looking for another max cause i want to an automagic now w everything like yours. but it's not easy to find in l.a. / and dealers are out of their minds with the prices i've seen. my problem is that i must have it in sheer or polished in 03 (sterling in 02) w/blk lthr. not willing to pay over 19k(02)20K(03) and it must be a socal car.

note: keeping my current lustre 02 6spd w/mnrf. will give it to my brother. so no flames!
