As with most vehicles with outside temp readings, you typically need to drive around for at least 5-10 minutes (depending on where the sensor is located) to evacuate standing heated/cooled air and cool down surfaces near the sensor. For instance, here it has been in the mid 90's but the car reads over 102 (sits in the sun during the day) when I first get in it. About 10 minutes later and it is within 2 degrees or so of other thermometers/weather readings.

What jjs said. My temp readout is pretty accurate after a few minutes of driving.
