New member intro...
Hey Maxima Fans!
I just got my 2002 SE yesterday, and registered here today.
I had been looking at new Civics, 4-cyl. Camrys and V6 Optimas; but then discovered how much I liked the '00 I30. From there it was only common sense to go with something even newer, with less miles, and of course the bigger engine and Xenon headlights are the icing on the cake. That it has a bunch of warranty left pleased the wife
.
I set out to find "the perfect Maxima" and quickly discovered that about 97% of Maximas seem to be ordered in BEIGE
. No offense to those of you who might own one of these "earthtone" machines, it's obviously a very popular color and in fact my Diamante was that color, but a little variety is nice
. When I saw this low mileage (10k) SE in dark metallic blue (anybody know the technical term for my color?) with a very light gray interior, I was sold immediately.
My first mod will be to tint the windows...and I like those clear sidemarkers...can't think of much else it really needs. I even like the wheels, although I would love to have scored the "slightly shinier" polished version (some kind of anniversary edition I think?).
This is the part where I might normally ask about power mods, but GEEZ it doesn't really need to be much quicker. It feels stronger than the '93 SHO I used to own, and would just SMOKE my Miata (although I have a Jackson Racing supercharger for that which should even things up
). After driving my new toy for a couple days now, I couldn't be more pleased with my choice
.

It can always be quicker. My first mod was the frankencar intake. So I would recommend that. But just be careful........with the mod bug.....
it tends to hit hard around here.Welcome=======>
Welcome! If you want to get those clear corners, here's a link for ya http://www.custommaxima.com/, that's where i got mine. Here's another for the Frankencar, although you might find it cheaper elsewhere:

if you have a 02 max, i recommend you go and get the ECU tsb done at Nissan before you get an intake of any kind. The 02 Max has a very sensitive MAF sensor and you will most likely blow it. So get the TSB done at a nissan dealer then get the Frankencar intake.

I would say I got a great deal..."book price" I looked up in several places is around $22k (not that it really means anything with the way the used market is right now), they were asking $17.9 and I got it for $16.7
...the thing is, other Nissan dealers I looked at wanted $17.9 even $18.9 for '00 and '01 Maxs with more miles on them! So, I kinda went
when I located this one
.
Whats up 02SEinSTL, I HIGHLY recommend getting the Frankencar intake for your car, it makes your car sound incredible trust me... I have 3 video's of a guy with a 6spd 2k2 w/ intake racing another 6spd 2k2 and a modded 2k maxima, the guy with the 2k2 w/intake was the car the video was recording from... I'm not sure what member this was though... If you would like to watch them, drop me a private message and I'll send them to you so you can hear it.
