I've found it works well on some cars, less on others. In any case I wouldn't do it every launch for reasons noted above. This is a great technique for turbos, but I don't think I would have any luck with my Max...if I really punch it off idle I get quite a bit of wheelspin as it is.

I think I get a beter launch when I do this. How is bad for the tranny? I may see a reason with the brakes, but all you're doing is pressing the gas a little bit and holding your brake in to keep the car from moving. I usually rev up to under 2K though.

When you launch, you need to flash the TQ converter, not hold the RPM in place and keep the car from going anywhere with the brakes. Flashing the TQ converter puts much less strain on the drivetrain and brakes.
