TSB question

Earlier today I approached the Nissan dealership service department about the TSB concerning the hood rattle. Although they took great interest in this, apparently admiting that they have never seen this TSB before, I was told that since my Max is out of the factory warranty period 2k1 (53k miles) I would have to pay out of pocket to get this taken care of. As they explained, unless there is a recall notice, I would be charged for the repair. Was that accurate, or should it be taken care of free of charge? Just want to check before I called Nissan USA and made a jacka$$ out of myself.

That is correct. A TSB is not a recall. A TSB only tells Nissan mechanics HOW to fix the problem. It does not say they MUST fix the problem. Depending on your relationship with your dealer some will take care of these regardless. Mine wouldn't do all of mine either, though some were taken care of because I brought the TSB's in right after I bought the car. Personally, I think it's all BS. If Nissan can acknowledge there is a problem and then issue a TSB on how to fix the problem, I think that the TSB should be taken care of period - no questions asked. Just my .02.
