question about the 3.5l VQ

hey guys this post has nothing to do w/the Maxima BUT it is relevant to the 3.5 liter VQ v6; which i feel all of you have expert expertise on. i'm looking to buy an 01 Infiniti Qx4, and found one within my budget with 65k miles on it. i drive a 94 legend right now, and i wanna know if i should worry about the high mileage on the Qx4 or if the VQ will run strong and worry free for me past 100k (like the 3.2l v6 on my legend). so if any of you can give me insight on this please do. i look forward to your responses, thanks!

The VQ should last well over 65k AS LONG AS it has been maintained properly. It is a strong and reliable powerplant, but like any engine, it needs proper maintenence to last.

from my experience and knowlegdge of nissan and the vq, the engine should last you over 200k easily given that it is not driven hard often and it is maintained properly

This pretty well sums it up. We have 166+K on one of our cars, a VQ30, still runs sweet and fast. One of the finest engines ever made.

Not sure about your style of driving (hard, easy) or type of driving (city, highway, mix), change motor and trans oil regularly, don't red line it every minute.
