Pics of my Tein drop :)

First the credit:

Install
Jeff at Maximum Tuning
108 Glen Cove Ave
Bay #6
Glen Cove, NY 11542
516-676-8470
jeff@maximumtuning.net
- Super nice guy and the install was very reasonable
- Took about 2 1/2 hours.
- Cost = $150 + tax.

KYB GR-2 Shocks
Nick Bauer
FCP Groton
734 Poquonnock Road
Groton, CT 06340
1-877-634-0063
foreigncarparts@hotmail.com
- Fast service, had shocks in 3 days (shipped to NY)
- Cost = $320 shipped

Tein Springs
Maxima.Org member Phoneix (on a group deal)
- Received springs shortly after group deal, good experiance
- $150 shipped to NY

Total = $620

Now the review:
It's a 2.2" in the front and a 1.6" in the back. The car handles awesome now! However, the tires still suck and will need to be upgraded with new 18" rims. As far as harshness, it's not much worse than the SE suspension but you feel the road imperfections more with the little "bouncing" it does. These springs (Tein) are supposed to settle after 5 days...we'll see how it is then.

The car handles with confidence now and rides like it should have when I got it

The pics:

Very nice! I just got back from Jeff's today with my H&R/GR-2 setup. He asked me if I had a sub in the trunk just as it was ready to go up on the lift.

Thanks all

The only thing I don't like is the rear wheels seem REALLY sunken in now. I'm looking at new rims with a 42mm offset that I think will make the rears look great...I'm just worried about the fronts sticking out too much

is it really harsh in front now? I put maxspeeds in and it feels really harsh, but only in front. perfect (nice and soft still but firmer) in the back, though.

I totally love the drop, but it seems Tein springs is too much drop for my car since i have Stillen Aero kit installed. And its definitly going to scrap the underbody spiler to the floor on my car

I really haven't noticed a difference between the fronts and rears - they feel the same. To be honest though, compared to my SE suspension the ride is not that much harsher. It almost makes me feel as if there was something wrong with the stock springs/shocks - although I only had 3500 miles on them?

That looks sweeeeeeet! I just ordered Teins on a group deal, don't have new struts yet. Should I wait or just throw the springs on and do the struts in a month or so? Every time i get soemthing new I get all hyper and can't wait to put it on...

Thanks dude!

Personally, I would wait until you have everything. Especially if you are paying for the install. If you are doing it yourself and have that much time on your hands give me a call because I've got pleanty of work to do around the house and bearly have time to sleep

No its not Just keep away from parking blocks and you'll be fine. Speed bumps, driveways, you name it, ive had 5people in the car and 1200lbs extra weight with them and stil had no problems. Check out my homepage, seriously you wont have any problems, common sense is all you need and you'll be fine.

I'm with the HitMan. I've got a kit and it hasn't scraped at all. Hey, HitMan, I'm not parking 2 feet from the curb now. Ha ha. Practice makes perfect, I'm usually within inches of the curb.

I told you within a month, two at the most you'll get used to it. I can get within inches now but just aim for no closer then 6" I dont want to accidently slam into one. The other day at work I actually pulled up to one got out of the car 3" to go and kept goind so I can see how much room I really had (the block is 6" tall and those are the small ones) and the front portion of the lip actually could clear it (incase of driver error ) but another inch and its gonna pull it off as you back out. Btw- is the ride bad at all with your 18's? I got 235/45 so I got more rubber between my rim and tire but dont know how much worse it is is say 40 or 35 series.

It's not too bad with the 18s. The rear sounds crappy when I hit a big bump, but that's about it. Roads in VA suck. I'm moving to Cocoa Beach in 3 weeks and hope their roads are better.

I'll tell you what though... I have 40mm offset and the front are close to the fender's with 245/40's and the back do rub every once in awhile when hitting a huge dip in the road but it's not an everyday thing...

Well all 4 of my wheels are 40mm offset and I have a 1/4 inch spacer plate that fits on the back hub to push the rear rim out more...

Got any pics of that? Do they actually stick out of the fenders? did you have to replace the lugs in the back?

No... they don't stick out pass the fenders... It's just the back wheels are hidden in more from the factory.. I have a few pics of my rims on my homepage...

drop looks real nice. I agree with an above post. Keep the stock 17s and just put some wider, meaty tires. You'll much happier in the end with the ride quality compared to the 18s. Get spacers if you feel the need to. Have fun!
